IS IT TRUE? December 30, 2010
IS IT TRUE that Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel finally thinks he is ready for the big leagues?…that Mole #3 tells us that Mayor Weinzapfel has decided to tell his staff and to publically announce himself as a candidate for the office of Governor of Indiana?…that the election for Governor of Indiana will be held in November of 2012?…that Mayor Weinzapfel has seen the wisdom in Rick Davis’s move to make an early announcement?….that Mr. Davis continues to serve admirably in his capacity of the Treasurer of Vanderburgh County while running for Mayor of Evansville? … that we expect Jonathan Weinzapfel to focus on his elected job of Mayor of Evansville for the next year and to make this 22 month campaign for Governor his second job?…there are plenty of recently exposed “loose ends” created by our Mayor that he needs to spend the next year tying up to prove that he is ready for higher office?…that we will make that list another day?
IS IT TRUE that Troy Tornatta who was recently defeated by Marsha Abell in the race to retain his seat on the Vanderburgh County Commissioners will be opposing Mr. Rick Davis in seeking the Democratic nomination for Mayor of Evansville?…that Tornatta will have the blessings of Mayor Weinzapfel in his quest to be Mayor?…that the race for the Democratic nomination will be a referendum on old school politics represented by Mr. Tornatta and the new Kennedy Club style of Democrat?
IS IT TRUE that Lloyd Winnecke will soon announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Mayor of Evansville?…that it is expected that he will run unopposed?…that unless some new face emerges from the sea of Republicans that Mr. Winnecke may just coast to the nomination and enjoy watching a good battle between his long time co office holder Commissioner Tornatta and Rick Davis?….that 2011 is shaping up to be an interesting year in Evansville politics?
ready…fire…aim!
Mike Pence will trounce Weinzapfel.
I look forward to getting my “Bye,Bye King John” bumper sticker.
The Times they are a-changing, and for the better.
Go Rick Davis!
Mr. Winnecke had better start his campaigning now, not for the primary, but for the 2012 General Election. His name is recognizable, but his record is a mystery. What has he done for the people of Evansville that would make him the voter’s choice?
crash larue:
Where can I get one of those bumper stickers. Why wait to put it on?
NoMoDo, actually I just threw that out there.
I am now leaning toward “Bye,Bye Weinzapfel the Worst”.
I will be checking in to having a bumper sticker made, and I will get back to you.
Is it true the Mayor plans on Jan. 1, 2012 to join the City’s law firm Jones and Wallace (attorneys he worked with before becomming Mayor)and will support Mr. Tornatta for Mayor in 2011 with the agreement that when Mr. Tornatta wins, the City’s Jones Wallace law firm will keep 1/2 of the City law work with the other 1/2 City law work to the Zeimer Staman Shoulders law firm that Mr. Tornatta hired as the County law firm when he was Commissioner???
Any validity to this? Care to share your source?
We can’t post names as you must understand. It is the same source that kept the CCO out front on the Barnett pay scandal, the demolition requirement of the Executive Inn and parking garage, the fact that Browning could not finance a hotel, and the McCurdy debacle. This source has nearly a 100% record of correctness way ahead of the curve.
We have gotten several messages letting us know that there may be a Republican primary for Mayor of Evansville. Our posting could be incorrect on that OR it may have inspired others to enter the race. The latter would be good as running unopposed for anything does not lead to good governance.
Weinzapfel is a mystery wrapped up in an enigma. Sometimes he shows great leadership, sometimes he just flat out messes a project up completely. I’m not too sold on him and I don’t think he will win, but he (as well anybody else) is head and shoulders above Mitch Daniels.
In regards to Tornatta and Winnecke, they are both terrible terrible terrible politicians who have NO business serving in politics or holding any kind of position that would require them to show any initiative outside of their own special interests. I’m embarrassed with the kind of job both of them have done and would absolutely hate to see either in office.
It won’t matter though, Rick the man Davis is sailing to the mayors office and it’s going to be great in 2012. We are going to save roberts stadium, revitalize downtown, and just kick ass in general. All Aboard!
Care to share, how in the world, you reach the conclusions that:
1 – Weinzapfel, “(as well anybody else) is head and shoulders above Mitch Daniels”
2 -“Tornatta and Winnecke, they are both terrible terrible terrible politicians who have NO business serving in politics or holding any kind of position that would require them to show any initiative outside of their own special interests”
3 -“Rick the man Davis is sailing to the mayors office and it’s going to be great in 2012”
4 -With Davis, we are going to “revitalize downtown”? Didn’t Weinzapfel just “revitalize” the whole damn thing? Did he leave any budget for, more of it?
[…] for governor. The windbag blog CCO includes some of this talk from its “mole” in a post today which also argues the resulting Democratic primary for Evansville mayor will be a battle between […]
Oh please let King John run for govenor!! That way Evansville will be done with him and the sound defeat he will get in the primaries will be his just deserts!!!!!
“Goodbye”
Goodbye to the Freedom Festival, Thunder on the Ohio, First Fridays Cruise-Ins, Roberts Stadium; goodbye to trusting City Government, to expecting honorable conduct of City business, to transparency, to public participation, to the equal distribution of resources.
Goodbye 2010 and hopefully goodbye to the administration who’s legacy of debt, chaos, incompetence and dishonor will last a generation.
Weinzapfel for Governor? Hardly. …
This: In My Opinion
I heard last night that Tornatta isn’t going to run because they don’t think he has what it takes to beat Rick. A very good source says they are still looking for a candidate.
Can you share who “they” is?
rumored to be the Dem Central committee, i.e, Weinzapel. This is just a rumor but from a very good and usually reliable source
