IS IT TRUE that many of our loyal followers have urged us to republish the article we did about the Evansville City Council ordinance concerning approving 9 million dollars worth of “Lease Rental Revenue Bonds” for capital improvements at the FORD Center?
IS IT TRUE that by contractual agreement the City Of Evansville is responsible for maintaining and replacing capital equipment at the FORD CENTER promptly?
IS IT TRUE that since the City of Evansville didn’t have the surplus funds to pay for the 9 million dollars in capital renovation costs at the FORD CENTER the City was forced to use the “LEASE RENTAL REVENUE BONDS” approach?
IS IT TRUE that we have attached the LINK OF ORDINANCE G-2023-17 Â for your review?
IS IT TRUE that we were stunned to learn that the Evansville City Council members used an unorthodox method in the naming of Evansville City streets as financial collateral to renovate the FORD CENTER?

Boyden Court from Pomona to the cul-de-sa
As a North Main Street area resident of over 60 years , I find it very offensive to change our historic North Main Street to another name !
Shame on you !
I agree. It seems the Weinzaphel Ford Center debacle will weigh heavy on the Evansville citizens for decades to come. Do you remember how Lloyd Jr. was impugned and derided for wanting a multi-purpose baseball field/arena down by Casino Aztar during the election, especially by Weinzaphel and his major backer, the Courier and Press? It would have brought Triple-A back to Evansville and kept Roberts Stadium alive. Instead we have a huge “green space” benefiting nobody and a millstone on MLK around the neck of a financially sinking city.
Hopefully we will have an honest mayor, our last two sucked, only a handful of people wanted the ford center, yet the politician wanted it because he wanted to run for governor and he needed to create his war chest
Where is it documented that a Triple A Club was willing to relocate if Evansville would build that Stadium downtown? That is BS, and you know it. That ship sailed for a Community our size many moons ago. I for one, would have loved the Stadium built downtown. It would be great if we could have a Double A or Single A club in our town. That is what we should be looking to attract.
