IS IT TRUE AUGUST 23, 2016

IS IT TRUE that the city employees have a new slogan for members of City Council?  …the slogan is-‘PENGUINS OVER CITY EMPLOYEES HEALTH INSURANCE”?

IS IT TRUE if the current members of City Council are serious about reducing the multi-million dollar deficit facing the Employee Health Care fund they could paid for their own Health care program through a private insurer?

IS IT TRUE if the current members of City Council are serious about reducing the multi-million dollar deficit facing the Employee Health Care fund they could request that all individuals who serve on Board and Commissions be dropped from receiving City of Evansville sponsored Hearth Care benefits?

IS IT TRUE for over a year we have been reporting that the Evansville Employee Health Care fund is experiencing a multi-million dollar deficit?

IS IT TRUE for the last two  (2) years former City Council President and Finance Chairman John Friend-CPA has been telling anybody who would listen that the City of Evansville is facing a major financial crisis because of the deficits spending practices of the Winnecke Administration? … we hear that Mr. Friend now predicts that the Evansville Financial crisis shall continue for the next several years?

IS IT TRUE during the time John Friend-CPA was City Council Finance Chairman he tried to explain how to read the city budget to several Council members to no avail?  …they would give Mr. Friend a “We Don’t Know What You’re Talking About “ look? …we hope their budget comprehension skills has improved since then?

IS IT TRUE  it’s obvious that the members of the current City Council really misses the budgetary expertise of Curt John and John Friend-CPA?

IS IT TRUE we just heard  that Evansville Brownfield Corporation just hired a past member of the Evansville City Council, retired Evansville Police officer as its property Inspector?  …George Lumley told us that he recently saw Mr. Steve Bagby driving down an alley in his brand new City of Evansville Brownfield’s car looking at property in the North Main area?  …we wish Mr. Bagby well in his new  political  patronage job?

IS IT TRUE we wonder who is the Executive Director of  Evansville Brownfield Corp?  …we wonder where the new offices of the Evansville Brownfield Corp are located?  …do any of the employees of the Evansville Brownfield Corp receive any retirement or Health Care benefits from the City of Evansville?

IS IT TRUE that Robb Myers posted the following comments in yesterday CCO we feel worth re-posting?  …his comments have to do with proposed City budget cuts?   …he posted: Step 1: Review multiple departments at the Civic Center and determine what offices can be merged to increase efficiencies.   Step 2: Cut health care plans for all elected officials.   Step 3: Review what departments can be privatized. For instance, management of the golf courses.  Step 4: Lease out Victory and any other similar venue to take the management costs off the back of the city.  Step 5: Offer large local businesses naming rights to large parks, pools, etc. They pay at least 50% of the annual costs to operate and maintain the park. So simple? …he also said; “I know that City Council members see these posts.   I call for all of them to step up and consider these options to stop the cycle of operating in debt.”

IS IT TRUE that the City is asking Council for $1 million dollars from the Riverboat fund to demolish commercial properties, like the old Apollo Liquor located on Riverside Drive.  …we wonder why taxpayers should pay to demolish property owned by people of financial means?

IS IT TRUE one our staff members went to SHOW ME’S EAST BAR AND RESTAURANT last week and tells us that some major improvements in the property and menus are being made?  …he tells us that the food is really good?

  1. IS IT TRUE that the City is asking Council for $1 million dollars from the Riverboat fund to demolish commercial properties, like the old Apollo Liquor located on Riverside Drive. …we wonder why taxpayers should pay to demolish property owned by people of financial means?
You should wonder why the people of financial means that owned the property were not allowed to build a new store on their property. This is a perfect example of why the south side is not thriving. Every time someone wants to invest in that area they are shut down by the large baptist churches. Supposedly for the good of the people in the area. This area was once one of the busiest Entertainment areas in Evansville. For thirty years at least no development has been allowed that did not meet the downtown pastors approval. The city will not approve building and the banks redlined the area for decades. The south Kentucky corridor has been destroyed by a triage of government, banks and churches. I have long wondered who is benefiting or hopes to benefit from this.

    • When Winnecke took office nearly five years ago within a matter of a few weeks he proposed some building code changes (one or two) which was delightfully received but that was all that occurred. Our building codes are the most archaic and restrictive than all of Indiana, Illinois & Kentucky. Many outside developers have written Evansville/Vanderburgh county off their lists of Development sites. WE ARE CONSIDERED A CLOSED COMMUNITY!

      • Overly restrictive building codes and local licensing requirements assist in curtailing outside competition and enriching a special class. Maybe this is why our average citizen earns $6,000 less per year than other areas in Indiana?

  2. Had an opportunity to speak with one of those outside developers and was informed that it is easier to do business in Cook County, IL that Evansville, IN. For example, he was hassle beyond belief with zoning which according to him was consistent with the area of development. Then, when the building commission’s office determined that the construction would be non-union within 4 hours, Indiana OSHA was on the site. Imagine it takes 3 hours to drive from the Indy office. Just when we thought Jasper, IN was hard to break into.

  3. Congrats to Steve Bagby ..as it is understood Bags and Ducky a/k/a Duckworth are neck and neck on the number of public positions each have held in their long career.

    • They have elevated “double dipping” to an art form. They are the Leonardo da Vinci and Michaelangelo of feeding at the public trough.

    • Why has it not been report that Bagby resign his position at the Sheriff Dept so abruptly last year …please let the CCO readers know why???

      • The answer can come from Mosby ..she was the one that recommended to Kelley Coures, DMD Director to hire Bagby at the Evansville Brownfield.

  4. Do not expect anytime soon that Mosby & Weaver will support the elimination of part-time, part-time council members’ health care benefits. Mosby in her absolute arrogance proclaim that she can not allow “HER EMPLOYEES” to endure an increase in their health care cost. So Old Yeller needs to help HER EMPLOYEES and take the lead.

ps ..did know that her Majesty’s cousin Dave Mosby works for her!!!

    • I always thought that they were “public employees” just like our elected officials are. It looks like Madame Presidentress has gotten too big for her Spanx. That 14 vote primary election “victory” and the dirty deal with Wayne Parke is NOT the mandate she seems to want it to be.
I am all for doing everything we can to reward our first responders, and that includes layoffs in other departments, stopping perks for part-timers, and forgetting penguins. The people who work the crappy hours, miss out on a lot of family time, to say nothing of risking their lives for their REAL employers (us, not Missy) and for that they deserve to have affordable health care and secure retirements.

      • If you recall, Friend stated last year that 44 non-safety positions be eliminated and in addition, the local EPA dept be eliminated as well because the state and feds have the duty. Weaver went bananas together with Old Yeller. The administration in regards to the local EPA stated, “let’s go six months into 2016 and review” ..well six months have come and gone and the local EPA is here!!! Those two clowns (Nosby and the Weasel) have never offered any recommendations on reducing spending. They truly believe that Jan Yellan is part of the Mayor’s Dept Heads.

  5. The demolition deals are all made depending on who you are collaborating (conspiring) with. Paying the demo cost is one thing but remember the history of the brownfields – they actually buy the blight at inflated prices from some people before it is demolished at our expense. The same with other city department. Big prices paid, then we fund the demo and now there is a vacant lot. Or we buy the blighted property from politicaly connected individuals at inflated prices and then pay someone to take it – Haneys corner area. Or we buy a vacant blighted CVS building on n main street that needs a new roof and much needed repair at a cost of over $600,000. Will the city be paying someone to take that building?

    • yes, the sales disclosure list the old CVS as selling for 535,000. But remember the collaboration among our elected realtor officials. When you add the heafty commission it puts the cost over $600,000. I think Cheryl Musgrave was on the board buying those properties. Why did we here so much from her about the local tax credit that McGin says will generate $600,000 in added cost to the taxpayers but nothing about this one building costing that much?

    • Why can’t those old dilapidated building just be condemned and taken over by the City though eminent Domain and then demolished and sold to a developer that can afford to rebuild the lot and pay taxes on the improvements? For the good of all the city’s people.

      • No need for eminent Domain if they are blighted. Just fine the owner and if not remedied the city does the work – even raze if necessary – and puts the charges on the tax bill. if the owner does not pay the property is auctioned to the highest bidder. The problem is – how will the administration get our tax dollars to there cronies with such a transparent and efficient system?

  6. On the million being requested for commercial demo, is there a budget on how much will go to demo and how much will go to admin. Will it be a gift to the Brownfields’ Evansville land Bank where they can use 80% for admin and the rest on something else? Possibly come back next year and request more without even taking down the first building. My understanding is they want to buy properties – where are they going to get the money to pay their cronies for these properties?

  7. EXCLUSIVE: Missing: FBI files linking Hillary Clinton to the ‘suicide’ of White House counsel Vince Foster have vanished from the National Archives

If memory serves, the only video missing of cars coming and going from the White House Parking Lot that day was of Vince Foster’s car leaving. How convenient was that? Plus the Clinton’s had hired some bozo from Arkansas to head security, so they could have total control of what went out to any other agencies.

    • At the risk of being too forward, the ranting by PAK on crap from decades ago is getting on my nerves.

      Press, you’re an asshole

  8. THE WASHINGTON TIMES

    Monday, August 22, 2016

    by David Keene

[The Clinton Foundation has from the beginning appeared to be just what the Sunlight Foundation — a “progressive” foundation promoting nonprofit transparency — described it as some years ago: “a slush fund.” Its mission has not been to vanquish disease and poverty as Hillary and Bill have claimed, but to allow the Clintons to keep their political army housed, clothed and fed as they prepared for Hillary’s presidential campaign.

Last year, Charity Navigator, a nonprofit watchdog that rates charities, put the Clinton Foundation on its “watch list” as a warning to potential contributors because so much Clinton Foundation money was going to salaries, overhead and luxury travel rather than to fulfilling its stated mission.

To finance all this, the Clintons sought and accepted huge contributions from foreign interests wishing to influence U.S. policy. After all, a former president and a sitting secretary of State are in a better position to deliver than your average influence peddler. The aforementioned Mr. Sutton was once asked why he robbed banks and answered straightforwardly that he did so because “that’s where the money is.” The Clintons milked foreign interests for precisely the same reason and had to know that doing so would, when revealed, look smarmy at best and would raise questions about what these folks got for their money.]
