IS IT TRUE if your primary resident is located in Washington, DC  and you have a condo in a Congressional District in Indiana you can run for a Federal office?  …this is “BULL CRAP”?

IS IT TRUE it looks like former Council President and Finance Chairman John Friend, CPA  projections that the City of Evansville shall be experiencing major budget problems starting in 2017 is spot on?  …we predict if any member of the main stream media would contact Mr. Friend he would be glad to tell them why?

IS IT TRUE  yesterday the Evansville Park and Recreation Director publicly stated  “the Mayor or City Council has nothing to do with the any future decision concerning the development of Robert Park is laughable ?  …doesn’t this guy realize that he serves at the pleasure of the Mayor?

IS IT TRUE the ad on an outside billboard located on St. Joe and Diamond Ave. is causing quite a stir?  …the ad on this billboard is sponsored by Hacienda Restaurant?  …the billboard states: “best Mexican food this side of the wall” ?  …some feel it makes reference to the “the wall between US and Mexico” and it really offend them?  …we wonder how they feel about this issue?

IS IT TRUE the burned out nightclub at Main and John streets will be razed today?   …we hear that our City officials are extremely pleased that this building is being razed because they believe this lot has a future value for the City ? …don’t be surprised to hear the Evansville DMD will offer to purchase this lot from the owner at a premium price for another “Quality of Life Project”?

IS IT TRUE the Evansville Police Department is going to charge anyone who want to access any future police body camera videos $150 per copy?  …we are hearing that some of our friends in the main stream media are concerned that the high cost of accessing video will deter people from requesting video camera footage?  …this is a developing story?

IS IT TRUE  that a budget request was given to Evansville City Council for $30,000  to promote 15 union firefighter’s to lieutenant rank?   …we wonder how Mosby and Weaver are going to handle this issue since that are the “political darlings” of the local unions?

IS IT TRUE  during a recent budget hearing the City Council liaison to the EFD DR. Dan Adams  publicly stated  “You don’t mess with police and fire; you and I know it”  during the discussion to increase fire department 2017 budget is puzzling?  …Councilman Dan Adams son is an employee of the Evansville Police department?  …we hope this doesn’t taint his judgement concerning  the Fire and Police Departments 2017 budget requests?

IS IT TRUE  the Metropolitan Evansville Transit System will reduce the following services for 2017?  …the services are: Sunday bus service; dropping a Howell route; contracting out the Northern Vanderburgh County  to AmeriQual route; to a private vendor, increasing  the 75 cents per ride fee to $1 and getting rid of free transfers tokens?  …don’t you just like when our elected officials forget that the poorest of our poor depend  on the  Metropolitan Evansville Transit System?  …we shall watch with interest  so see how Councilpersons Hargis, Mosby and Robinson vote on this issues since their Wards have many working poor living in their area?

    1. $30,000 will fund 15 (not 11) EFD Lieutenants. That full level will stop the present continuous floating of this rank, thus improving EFD protection delivery.

    2. I am not “the local firefighter union representative.” Councilwoman Mercer and I are the City Council’s liaisons, assigned at the beginning of each calendar year

    • Here we go ..McGinn as the Finance Chair is ramrodding this display of folly ..it has been alleged that while the Zoo Director under the Weinzapfel adm he was dismissed due to financial incompetence and now he is overseeing a $335,000,000 budget ..God help us!!!!

      • Hacienda has a history of creative use of their billboard dollar. They’ve voluntarily taken more than one down after the crocodile tears start flowing. Political correctiveness is not only foolish but expensive to implement. It now rules unless saner people call the crybabies out and then ignore them.

        • I wonder who’s upset about it. Whoever it is needs to get over it, but I haven’t heard any complaints.

    • It was creative and also keeping with the times. Not a stale old proven advertising campaign. A little edgier, taking a chance. All good.

      Those who raised a minor uproar over this non-issue have a problem that could be easily cured by a frozen margarita enema.

  3. Nowhere in Parks and Recreation Executive Director Brian Holtz’s statement did I find a statement that the Robert’s Park project was not the the Mayor’s concern.
    Holtz’s statement was “It’s not the Park’s project, it’s, not the Mayor’s project, it’s not the City Council’s project; it’s OUR project.” Thus stressing tbe importance of community involvement

  5. Should Ameriqual be responsible for their min. wage workers transportation beings they chose to build away from
    the caliber of workers they want to hire?

    • Maybe Steve Chancellor could have a $10,000 a couple fundraiser at his house to get bus service to Ameriqual.

      • Speaking of the Ameriqual business fundraiser, I noticed the crease in Steve’s jeans are immaculate. Perfect. So I asked if I could drop my jeans at Steve’s house to get them creased. Only place in town I know that does that. During the meal, I noticed Steve made them take his plate away two times for a new one cause his food was touching other food on his plate. And during dinner, he re-tied his tie like four times. And he would rake the carpet in the room about every 3 minutes.

        • I mean, I won’t eat any fruit that’s not immaculately peeled first, but I’m not that bad. Oh, and I replace the roll of TP every time I finish in the bathroom. Even after someone else uses it. But I don’t crease my jeans for God’s sake. (smile….folks)

  6. I tend to agree with Dr. Adams about not messing with our first responders. If we want the best people in those jobs, then we need to pay for what we want. The same applies to equipment and training for them. Fire the penguins and pay our first responders!

    • I agree. I also think the penguins should be stopped before Winnecke insists we fund ballroom dancing lessons for them.

      • With the display already built at the zoo, we need to get two animatronic penguins, name them Fred and Ginger, and program to perform “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”

        • We are dumping another $112,000 into the zoo to fix it up. It can’t be allowed to sink or swim on its own merits. Butterfly McGinn, sold to the public as its savior many years and many dollars ago, would be further tarnished. It really wouldn’t matter though as to his usefulness to the administration, they care not about such things. They just want to keep their votes together. The expected influx of millenials demand a zoo with penguins, it’s a quality of life issue. Except for the unfortunate penguins.

          Surely there is room in the 112k for some bow ties for our penguins. I’d guess the mayor stayed at that pricey hotel in Louisville that uses red plastic penguins as a lure.

          • I’m worried about the quality of life for all of the zoo animals. I have serious doubts about the zoo ever being self-supporting, considering the millenials’ attitudes toward zoos in general. I believe the time has come to sell or donate our zoo animals to facilities where they will get good care, cut our losses, and move on.

    Maybe I’m behind the times, but I thought bus fare was $1 for several years now. Dropping Sunday service is hard, since they haven’t had it for years (at least to my knowledge), and the north route to Ameriqual is already contracted out and seems to be working fine. Doing away with the free transfers would likely be a problem for many of the riders. If the Howell route isn’t being utilized by enough riders, then it should be cut.

    As for the Councilwomen whose votes you’re pondering, Connie Robinson will vote in the best interests of her constituents. Mosby and Hargis will do as they are told. At least, that is the pattern of behavior they have displayed in the past.

    • Bus fare is currently $1 with free transfres. They are proposing cutting the price to 75 cents and no free transfers.

      • So, the price of a bus trip with a transfer involved (most of them, I’d guess) will go up to $1.50. Wow, another way to “gouge” the poorest among us!

  8. It should be noted that Dan Harpole is funding the demolition of his building. That is much better than the norm, which seems to be to walk away when legally permissible and leave the public with the tab. I hope he gets a high dollar for his lot.

    • I am curious as to what constitutes a principle residence? They are required to be in Dc for most of the year? So time in residence can not be the criteria. I have a bigger problem with the senator they brought in out of state.

  12. IS IT TRUE that one doesn’t need to own a condo in a congressional district to run for office. The reality is that one must establish a residence. Renting a trailer or a room in a boarding house whether it is fit to live in or not is sufficient to establish residency, receive mail, and register to vote. There are many examples of candidates using temporary addresses to run for nearly every office in the land and some have been close to home.

    • Who else that you know of, in this election, gets tens of thousands of supporters coming to their rallies? It sure is NOT Hillary Clinton.

      So don’t buy into this bought media hype that she has the momentum on her side. She has the MEDIA on her side, but the MEDIA are NOT the VOTERS!

In the Grocery Store Aisle I saw the National Enquirer Magazine with a fake photo of Hillary Clinton on the front page implying that she is eating herself to death and has gained over 103 in the last month and is suffering from bouts of Sever Depression. Now this is pure hogwash and an insult to most people’s intelligence. But I also remember when John Kerry ran for President in 2004 and got Swift Boated by the GOP Political Attack Dogs. And the GOP has been attacking Hillary Clinton since she and Bill were in the Governor’s Office down in Arkansas. And now the Trump campaign is working with the same guy who supported the Russian Puppet President when he was the President of Ukraine before he got the boot and started living in Russian. Paul Manafort has close ties to the Russians.

          And it’s the FBI contention that the Russians were responsible for breaking into the DNC computers and stealing the emails from the DNC. So Trump is losing in the polls in the USA is no surprise to me. Especially after he insulted the family of a guy who gave his life for our country and died while serving in the US Military. Then again Trump doesn’t seem to respect our military people like John McCain who he called a loser and zero when instead he should have seen John as an American Hero.

          You just never know what the Trumpster is going to say or do next.

  14. I find it interesting that there have been no comments on the non-resident Democrat running for a seat as US Senator from Indiana. But then I guess that is nothing new. He ran for and was elected Governor of Indiana, although he did not even have an Indiana Drivers License. Then he was elected Senator, and left Indiana to take up residence in Washington D.C., Florida, and who knows where else. Oh, he does have a condo in Indy, and according to the internet news, he pays about $20.00/month for the electric service to that condo. Don’t sound like he uses heat or AC, or turns on any lights. Internet also is reporting he returned to Indy recently for a fund raiser, but stayed at the Marriott rather than his condo.

    Remember the Governor from Evansville, Robert Orr allowing Mr. non-resident to run for Governor of Indiana? There was a lot of discussion on whether EB should be allowed to run for Governor. The ultimate decision on whether EB was a resident of Indiana, even though he had no Indiana Drivers license, was placed in Governor Orr’s lap, and he ultimately ruled EB was a resident. The rest is history, and history is repeating itself.
