This survey contains information on the rates for electricity charged by 22 Indiana providers. Vectren is shown as having the highest pricing at every use level studied by a wide margin. This is a nine page report that we have made available on the link below.
It must be noted that our neighbor to the south Henderson, KY has rates that are below every Indiana city in this survey.
Once again, if our local politicians are serious about this, they should get together and make a bi-partisan trip to Indianapolis to protest the rate increase.
Actions speak louder than words.

Defining the must-run and must-take units in a deregulated market (Mar/Apr 2002)
“Reliability must-run (RMR) units are generation facilities that are necessary during certain operating conditions in order to maintain the security of power systems in a competitive environment. Absence of RMR units may result in insecure operation of a system. From a financial point of view, RMR units may become a safety net for independent power producers (IPPs) who enjoy steady incomes or a place for those who prefer not to participate in the competitive market.”

Glossary: ISO Independent Systems Operator:
A neutral operator responsible for maintaining instantaneous balance of the grid system. The ISO performs its function by controlling the dispatch of flexible plants to ensure that loads match resources available to the system.
Generation Facilities:
Economic Efficiency
Economic efficiency is the ratio between production costs, including fuel, labor, materials and services, and energy output from the power plant for a period of time. Economic efficiency can be expressed as
φee = C / E (5)
where
φee = economic efficiency (cents/kW, euro/kW, …)
C = production costs for a period (cents, euro, ..)
E = energy output from the power plant in the period (kWh)

How does the A.B. Brown Generator Station units #1 and #2 compare to other 265 MW generators (without dense pack technology) in the area in economic efficiency?
In other words: are there similar coal fired generator units operating in the area more efficiently than Vectren’s A.B. Brown coal fired units, and if so how are they achieving that higher efficiency if none of them are currently using dense pack technology?
