BOSTON, Mass. – University of Southern Indiana Men’s Track & Field completed a wild weekend where the Screaming Eagles competed in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts along with the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan. Senior Noah Hufnagel (Santa Claus, Indiana) won the 5,000-meter run in his respective heat to finish 63rd overall.

USI at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational
Hufnagel crossed the line at 14 minutes, 00.03 seconds to place first in the fifth heat of the 5,000 meters. There was a 00.18-second difference between first and second place in the heat. With the 14-minute finish, Hufnagel sets a new personal best along with entering the top-five fastest indoor 5,000-meter times in USI history. Also competing in the Valentine Invitational was senior Mitchell Hopf (Santa Claus, Indiana) who finished 146th in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:40.85.

USI at the GVSU Big Meet
Junior Ethan Goddard (Avon, Indiana) paced the Eagles at the GVSU Big Meet by placing 13th in heat number seven in the 5,000 meters by crossing the line in 15:30.42. Sophomore Carson Kleinhelter (Franklin, Indiana) was close behind with a personal-best time of 15:40.01 to place 16th within the same heat. Ending the top-20 finishes for USI was freshman Landen Swiney (Du Quoin, Illinois) who nabbed 19th in the sixth heat in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:29.97.

The Eagles complete the regular indoor season Saturday, February 18 when USI competes in the ISU Open, hosted by Indiana State University. This will be the final meet until the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships slated for February 22-23 in Birmingham, Alab
