Five firms submitted qualifications to build a new Downtown hotel. Two have been eliminated leaving Gatehouse Capital Corp. of Dallas; HCW of Branson, Mo.; and Swerdling & Associates of Denver to the bidding
The Evansville Redevelopment Commission approved a Request for Proposals this morning. All three of the selected bidders meet the important criteria of developing, financing, and operating a convention hotel project of this magnitude.
There has been some speculation that at least one of the bids may include some type of activity other than lodging to supplement the cash flow proposition for the site.
City officials have specified that the proposals from the three companies must be turned in by Oct. 1, and a selection could be made Nov. 4.
No details for incentives, memorandums of understanding, opening dates, or financing were discussed.
