                         National Rehabilitation Week September 16th – 20th
September 16, 2012 – HealthSouth Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital will join rehabilitation providers across the nation September 16-20 in celebration of National Rehabilitation Week. HealthSouth will be recognizing its Patients, Nurses and Therapists and the significant role they play in the rehabilitation of patients from our community.
This week, the hospital will be buzzing with various events and activities!
Barbara Butler, CEO states, “National Rehabilitation Week provides a great opportunity for our hospital to honor how much each of our patients have accomplished since their injury or illness. We invite the community to join in our celebrations and to learn of the successes that rehab brings to patients at our hospital every day.â€
All Week
A chance raffle will take place in the lobby! Items in the raffle include a Bath and Body Works Gift Basket, Free tickets to Rain – The Beatles Experience, a Walther’s Golf n Fun Mini Golf and Laser Tag package, and several gift cards! $1/ticket $5 for 6 tickets!
All proceeds will go to the Brain Injury Adventure Camp!
Monday, Sept. 17
A Patient Party/Open House will be held at 1:30pm – 3:00pm in our therapy gym with refreshments.
This event is held for our current patients and their families. Media is welcome!
Tuesday, Sept. 18
A Patient Reunion Luncheon will be held from 12:15pm-1:30pm for patients that have “graduated” from HealthSouth in the past six months. An RSVP was required.
We have approximately 80 patients that will attend. This is always a very moving event for the patients, families, and staff at HealthSouth to see their patients after more progress has been made at home!

Wednesday, Sept. 19
The highlight of the week is the Rehab Olympics!!
12 -14 teams of 4 people from the community will compete for The Gold Medal and all will hope to avoid the last place award of the Golden Bed Pan!
This event will take place at 12:00pm-1:30pm on the east lawn outside HealthSouth.
Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapy have planned activities for our teams that will create awareness of how life changing events can effect even the simplest tasks!
Media is strongly encouraged!!
Thursday and Friday are dedicated to employees and celebrating within the hospital, however, tours and an “open house†policy will be in place the entire week from 8:00am-4:00pm.
