Since 1776, July 4 has been celebrated as the birth of American independence. Today we celebrate our liberty with parades, concerts, fireworks and more with our friends and family.

If you plan to celebrate with fireworks, please remember these important tips:
- Only persons 18 years of age or older can purchase fireworks;
- Do not attempt to make or alter any fireworks;
- Use a clear, open area and keep audiences a safe distance away;
- Keep a fire extinguisher or water supply nearby; and
- Never smoke or consume alcohol when lighting fireworks.
