19

*I will be a full time Coroner, serving the citizens of Vanderburgh County – in the office every day.

*I will hire deputy coroners with careers or backgrounds that are associated with medical fields or law enforcement – a professional staff.

*I will create a better working relationship with first responders, hospital emergency room personnel, health department, and funeral homes – a partnership.

*I will work closely with social groups to search for answers to issues facing the community such as; prescription drug overdose deaths, suicides, violence with our youth and other death trends – proactive in the community.

*I will have more direct supervision over the office of Vanderburgh County Coroner – responsibility will be mine.

*I will bring evidence handling and collection of pharmaceutical drugs, money, and valuables within the standards of law enforcement agencies – better accountability.

*I will have a position on the Indiana State Coroner’s Training Board – creates recognition and respect from other Indiana County Coroners.

*I will create a more professional image of our county by instilling standards of behavior by leading by example, training and reinforcement of professional guidelines – excellence is a habit.

*I will utilize existing technology to track trends relevant to the Coroner’s duties – prevention and awareness.

*I will integrate the Coroner’s office with the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy to promote a better understanding with law enforcement agencies – a teaching mission.

  1. It’s hard to imagine how you could improve on what Annie has done. I voted for Annie today.

    • BS—Annie misses a lot of work and she drinks to much. She is not respected by the law enforcement officers.

Gary is 10 times more qualified than Annie.

      • Got proof? Does she do this on the job? If so what business of anyones if she has a drink on her free time. As for missing a lot of work, unlike say a treasurer or auditor, coroners can be called out at any and all hours of the day to deal with deaths. I think you would find Annie Groves probably puts in more time than ANY elected official we have.

      • Annie Groves is on call all the time in the Coroners Office and it is nothing for something to happen and she will get called out in the middle of the night. So she is definitely not a part time coroner; she is more like a work horse coroner.

  2. Gary is a true professional and will raise the level of that office by a huge amount. Groves is a part time coroner making full time wages, where is Wayne Parkes when you need him? Is Annie running as a Republican or a Democrat this time? She was a Republican in the last election supporting Winnecke and Short. I voted for Gary which is a Vote for Professionalism and a vote for Vanderburgh County.

    • Gary has my full support. He will make an excellent coroner. He has great qualifications with demonstrated leadership skills.

I agree with everything you said about Groves. She needs to go.

      Wayne Parke

    • Al, is that you grinding your axe again? I guess you, Wayne, pov and Charlie can all do a big group hug when she wins.

      • I am sure everyone will have a big group hug when Gulledge wins. Time to get rid of Annie that only has no compassion for the families and no passion for the community. I cannot wait for Gulledge to better that office.

        • Al,
It’s hilarious that you think changing from usa1975 to usa106 somehow hides your identity. Although you almost had me with the offering to hug another man. It’s very interesting that the same behavior of supporting the other party that you were so against last year fits the bill this year. Hello kettle, this is pot.

  3. Annie Groves is by far the best choice for this office. Her compassion with grieving families, the effectiveness of how she has run her office and her work on suicide prevention make her not only an excellent coroner but an exceptional person.

  4. After 2 terms they are professional politicians. Just like a diaper, gotta change them.

  5. Annie brings a level of professionalism to the Coroners Office that you definitely will not see with Gulledge. Does anybody know what Gulledges qualifications are; I don’t but I do know that Annie Groves has brought a level of compassion to the Coroners Office that I am sure will not be matched. I have heard numerous accounts of how she has gone out of her way to help family members dealing with a tragedy get things straight. What are we going to do? Get rid of that and try Gulledge. I think not.

Annie Groves is on call all the time in the Coroners Office and it is nothing for something to happen and she will get called out in the middle of the night. So to say that she is a part time Coroner is absurd.

    • Have you even attempted to look into Gulledge’s qualifications? They are impressive.

  7. So we got Parke on here taking up Gulledge and then we got Jarvis on here taking up for Groves. Is it just me or is the candidate who gets the least amount of endorsements in this race is going to be the one to win?

Why? Does the Coroner’s office need more staffing? Would that be due to the increase of homicides in Evansville this year? Doesn’t the Coroner’s Office have working agreements with experts who are available when needed?

Hasn’t Mr. Gulledge heard that the key words this year are “streamlined government”? Does he have political debts to pay off if he gets elected? Would they each get a take-home car? A bigger department means more tax dollars wasted. Evansville/Vanderburgh Co. is shrinking, not growing. The Coroner’s Office is about the shrinkage, not growth. In a perfect world, we wouldn’t need a Coroner, period!

Maybe we need an elected Medical Examiner/Coroner with training in Pathology, instead of a member of a long-time police family.

    • What in the world are you talking about? Every coroner makes new hires in the office. It’s part of building a successful team.
