Governor Praises First Lady Karen Pence for Charitable Work

Indiana First Lady’s Charitable Foundation Formed in 2013 and Donated to Organizations That Have Benefited all 92 Indiana Counties

Indianapolis – Governor Mike Pence praised the work of First Lady Karen Pence following the final reception Thursday of the Indiana First Lady’s Charitable Foundation.

“Karen has a deep love for the people of Indiana and I am so proud of the good work she has been able to do through the First Lady’s Charitable Foundation over the past four years. Since the day I met her, Karen Pence has been the best part of my life, and through her work as our First Lady, the people of Indiana have gotten to see the qualities that have meant the world to me and our family,” said Governor Pence. “She holds in her heart a love and compassion for others that daily inspires our children and me, along with so many other Hoosiers who have been touched by her generosity and care. I know I speak for people across our state when I express my appreciation to our First Lady Karen Pence for her dedication to so many worthy causes through the work of the  First Lady’s Charitable Foundation.”

At Thursday’s reception at the Governor’s Residence, First Lady Karen Pence awarded $38,000 to 40 organizations and charities that serve Hoosier families and children across the state. She also awarded the fourth and final major grant of $95,000 to the Art Therapy Program at Riley Hospital for Children. She started the Indiana First Lady’s Charitable Foundation, a 501 ( c ) (3) organization, in August of 2013 as a way to recognize organizations and charities across the state.
