Nothing Bundt Cakes is a food chain that has been closed on Sundays since it opened for business in 1997. One of the advantages of owning a franchise or working at the bakery has been that day off for rest and religious purposes.
The popularity of the chain attracted big corporate investors and Nothing Bundt Cakes is now owned by Roark Capital, and Roark changed policies to require that all stores will be open a minimum of 62 hours per week, and six of those hours have to be on Sunday.
Some franchise owners are unhappy with the Sunday hours because there is a lot less activity on Sundays in some of the rural locations and they may loose money on the Sunday hours.
