  1. It is unfathomable to me the lack of interest of the majority of people when it comes to the operations of the city and county’s largest consumer of tax dollars, a quarter billion dollar a year enterprise.

You think there is waste in local city government?, you should attend some of the school board meetings, or better yet, demand that they be televised live.

Some of you people who have the capacity for sorting out complicated systems and issues, and are up for the challenge (you have to learn their language first) should consider attending the meetings.

The term “Public Meeting” rings sort of hollow when only school corporation employees, and those who wish to do business with the corporation show up for the meetings. There is not nearly enough public oversight of this quarter billion dollar operation. Jobs are down, property values are down, but the taxes you pay to the school corporation are going, and will continue to go, up. The proof will be on your spring property tax bill.

    • Key,
You are preaching to the choir here, I too have never been able to understand how the EVSC can spend like there is no tomorrow and say “it’s for the children” and you can hear a pin drop. Let the Mayor’s office want to spend $ 100.00 the wrong way, and people are hollering. I agree, we will see it on our tax bills. Until there is a united effort for change, we will continue to swallow it. Kent Reddington
