At 12:10pm today, Evansville Police were called to the 700 block of E Powell for a report of a 19 year old being bitten by a dog. The victim told the responding officer that two dogs had attacked him and that he received bite injuries during the incident.
The officer searched the area for the dogs and spotted them on the front porch at 822 E Blackford. When the officer exited his car to try and locate the owner, both dogs charged him. As the officer tried to retreat back to his car, one of the dogs bit the officer on the elbow while the other dog continued to act aggressively. To stop the attack, the officer shot both dogs.
The dogs ran away, but were later found by an animal control officer. Both dogs were injured during the incident. No word on their condition. The dogs owner was notified of the incident.
The original dog bite victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The officer did not require medical attention.
