 EPD K-9 TARO PASSES AWAY

Last night, just after 9:00 p.m., EPD K-9 Taro was off-duty at his home with his K-9 Handler. K-9 Taro saw a rabbit and chased it into the roadway.

Unfortunately, he ran out in front of an oncoming vehicle and was hit. EPD Officers and Deputies with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office blocked intersections so K-9 Taro could be transported as quickly as possible to the All Pet Emergency Clinic. Unfortunately, life-saving measures were unsuccessful and K-9 Taro passed away last night.

K-9 Taro was born on August 29, 2020, in the Czech Republic. K-9 Taro began his career with the Evansville Police Department in September 2021. He won 1st place in the USPCA Region 5 PD Trials last year in Middletown, Ohio, and again last month in Evansville.

A private service will be held for K-9 Taro and he will be laid to rest at the K-9 Cemetery at the FOP PAL Camp. Our condolences go out to K-9 Taro’s family. K-9 Taro will be deeply missed but never forgotten.Â
