EPA Names January “National Radon Action Month”

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has designated January as “National Radon Action Month”.  According to the EPA’s website (www.EPA.gov/radon), radon is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.  Overall, radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.  Radon is responsible for about 21,000 lung cancer deaths every year – with about 2,900 of these deaths occurring among people who have never smoked.
