Eagles show flashes at OVC Fall Invitational

EVANSVILLE, IND.- University of Southern Indiana Women’s Tennis opened its 2024-25 campaign with a strong showing in the OVC Fall Invitational in Evansville Friday and Saturday. USI hosted the fall showcase at Wesselman Park and the Evansville Tennis Center.  
 
Singles
Freshman Libby Banet and Rylie Wilkison earned their first collegiate victories with Banet winning the #4 consolation and Wilkinson taking the #6 consolation.
 
Sophomore Antonia Ferrarini earned the first singles victory of the season for the Screaming Eagles in flight one winning her opening match 7-5, 7-5. Sophomore Anais Negrail went 2-1 in flight two with a victory in match one 6-3, 6-0. Negrail dropped the second match of the flight before bouncing back and winning the third 6-2, 7-5.
 
Doubles
USI saw doubles success in flight one with the duo of Negrail and sophomore Sofia Davidoff winning the consolation title. The duo of Ferrarini and senior Madison Windham advanced to the finals of flight one after winning their first two matches 7-5.
 
In doubles flight two, senior Abby Myers and junior Khandice Thomas lost their first match before back to take the flights consolation.
 
WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE EAGLES
USI will be back in action October 10-14 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee competing in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships hosted by Middle Tennessee State University.
