Four University of Southern Indiana Men’s Track & Field student-athletes were honored with U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association All-Midwest Region accolades Monday afternoon.
The Screaming Eagles collected a total of eight All-Region awards, with senior Chase Broughton (Marengo, Indiana) and junior Bastian Grau (Höchstadt, Germany) combining to earn six total.

Broughton earned All-Region honors in the mile, the 3,000 meters, the distance medley relay, and the distance medley relay, while Grau also earned the awards in the same events.

With the second fastest oversized track time in NCAA II history, sophomore Tyler Kruse (Indianapolis, Indiana) and freshman Javan Winders (Mansfield, Tennessee) also earned All-Region honors for their efforts with the distance medley relay team.

The top five individuals in each event from each region earned the All-Region distinction; in addition to each of the members of the regions’ top three relay teams.

Broughton ranks first in the Midwest Region in the mile and second in the 3,000-meters. Grau ranks third in the Midwest Region in the mile and the 3,000-meters.

USI’s distance medley relay team ranks first in the region and fourth, nationally.

The Eagles still await their NCAA Division II Indoor Championships fate with the final declarations yet to be announced. The distance medley relay team is a lock, while Broughton and Grau are locks in the mile and 3,000-meters.
