EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Men’s and Women’s Cross Country return to action Friday when the Screaming Eagles compete at the University of Missouri’s Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri.

The men’s eight-kilometer race is set to begin at 8 a.m., while the women’s 6k is scheduled for an 8:45 a.m. start time.

USI’s men are looking to build on the second-place finish they recorded at the UT Martin OVC Preview a week and a half ago. Senior Brady Terry raced to a first-place finish and his first-career Ohio Valley Conference Runner of the Week award, while sophomores Jackson Collman (9th) and Alex Nolan (10th) posted top-10 finishes to aid the Eagles.

The Eagles placed five runners in the top 15 and eight in the top 20 as they finished with 43 points, just two behind first-place Southeast Missouri State University.

Sophomore Zoe Seward raced to a second-place finish in the women’s race at the UT Martin OVC Preview as USI’s women finished first out of seven teams. The Eagles placed four in the top six, with senior Audrey Comastri, sophomore Ellie Hall and freshman Hadessah Austin finishing fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.

USI had six in the top 20 and seven in the top 25 as it earned a dominating 15-point win over second-place Tennessee Tech University.

Following Friday’s Gans Creek Classic, the Eagles are scheduled to send a squad to Louisville to compete at the “Live in Lou” Classic October 5 before hosting the Angel Mounds Invitational October 18.
