Eagles drop home contest to Lewis 5-2 concluding 2020-21 season

 University of Southern Indiana Women’s Tennis (3-12, 0-6 GLVC) fell 5-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference match and their season finale this morning to Lewis University (8-5, 3-3 GLVC), 5-2 at the USI Tennis Courts.

DOUBLES: The Screaming Eagles pairing of senior Lauryn Thompson and sophomore fought to win five games but could not complete a comeback.

Lewis would go on to sweep all matches grabbing the doubles point.

SINGLES: The Flyers won the No. 2, 3, 4, 5 singles in straight-sets.

Freshman Lauren Rowe had a little trouble in the No. 1 singles dropping the first set, but then poured it on the next two to claim the victory for the Eagles. Rowe finished the season with her team-high eighth victory.

Sophomore Jasmine Shireman also grabbed a win in the No. 6 singles, prevailing in an eventual super tiebreaker set, 10-2. Shireman finished the year with four singles wins.

GLVC Standings Breakdown: The Eagles can finish no better than sixth in the GLVC East Division and the top four from each division advance to the GLVC Tournament. Thus, this will conclude the 2020-21 season for USI Women’s Tennis.
