On Monday, May 30, 2016 at 7:55pm the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2900 block of West Baseline Road in reference to a motor vehicle crash with reported injury.
Responding deputies found an overturned silver Dodge Ram pickup truck with a female driver trapped underneath. The driver, later identified as Ms. Tessa McKinney, was pinned under the “A” pillar of the truck against the ground. The Scott Township Fire Department rendered aid while awaiting the arrival of a Life Flight helicopter. Ms. McKinney was extricated from the vehicle and flown to Deaconess Hospital. A passenger in the vehicle, who had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was able to free himself and sustained only minor injury.

Evidence observed at the scene as well as witness statements indicated that Ms. McKinney had been driving recklessly prior to losing control of the truck and entering a ditch. Preliminary blood alcohol results indicated that Ms. McKinney’s blood alcohol content was in excess of the legal limit. The investigation remains open pending final toxicology results from the State Department of Toxicology.
