On October 7th, around 5:10 a.m., Evansville Police Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Hess Ave in reference to a person with a gun. The victim stated that the suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Chase Melton, had a gun and was threatening to kill her and also physically assaulted her. The victim had visible, but non-life-threatening, injuries.
Melton initially refused to come out of the residence, but officers were eventually able to talk Melton into coming outside. At around 6:00 a.m., Melton was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center for the following charges:
