Did Holcomb Vote For Morales? Democrats Respond To Answer

Holcomb cast his ballot in early voting for this year’s primary election on Tuesday due to not being in Indiana on Election Day.

In a statement he made to the press after voting, as reported by the Indiana Capital Chronicle’s  Niki Kelly, Holcomb said that “everybody should vote their conscience” and that in regard to Morales, “I certainly did mine. I’ll support the Republican team, and he’s a beneficiary of that.”

After hearing his statement, the Indiana Democratic Party released a statement of its own.

“Gov. Holcomb knows better. Diego Morales is unfit to hold public office,” said Drew Anderson, Indiana Democratic Party spokesperson. “Some decisions are above team politics and straight partisanship. Diego Morales has shown throughout this race that he is a danger to Indiana and its secure elections. When it comes to conscience, we urge all Hoosiers to learn the facts and vote for veteran-attorney-mother Destiny Wells.”

Morales is the Republican candidate for secretary of state. Throughout the race, he has been involved in several controversies such as claiming he is a veteran despite not meeting the federal requirements, sexual harassment accusations from two women who previously worked with him, and being fired previously from the office he is running for.

“The claims being made against me are false and I unequivocally deny all of them,” Morales told IndyPolitics.org in regard to the sexual harassment claims.

Morales also did not attend the debates and candidate forums that Democratic candidate Destiny Wells and Libertarian candidate Jeff Maurer attended.

The election takes place on November 8, 2022.
