DCS TOWN HALL IN EVANSVILLE ON MONDAY
Area residents will have the chance to offer solutions to the problems plaguing the state’s Department of Child Services (DCS) at a town hall in Evansville this Monday (October 15).
The meeting – scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Room 1027 of the Health Professions Center on the campus of the University of Southern Indiana (USI) – is being hosted by State Rep. Gail Riecken (D-Evansville).
Riecken said the town hall is designed to supplement the work presently being done by a legislative study committee examining services offered to at-risk children in Indiana. It will enable residents to relate their experiences with DCS and offer ideas that can help DCS respond more quickly and thoroughly to keep our kids safe.
In addition, those who come to the town hall will be able to review several reform proposals offered by Riecken and other committee members.
Christy Baker, associate professor of social work at USI, will be the moderator.
The town hall will be available for viewing on the web at: mms://helix.usi.edu/wmtencoder/oct15.wmv
Cute stunt: Electioneering on state property three weeks before Election Day. The question is, “Will yoyr ploy buy you votes, or cost you votes? I suspect it will be the latter, given your cowardly flight to Illinois, and the way that it has stuck in the craw of the voters ever since.
