  1. When i first posted this on the Riley letter to the Ed. it was sent to the don’t read area. Let’s try again. There is an article in todays C&P that looks into Ms. Hart’s claim to being a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom. It is interesting and you should borrow a paper if you don’t have one. It seems her service was 4 months at an A.F. base in Terre Haute and not in the Mid-East. I appreciate every ones service but her claims are going to far. The article should be posted in all veterans service organizations.

    • I suppose you reactionary extreme right-wing Republicans are going to make a big deal about this because way back when we progressives all attacked Dan Quayle for being in the National Guard and only serving as a clerk. You are going to say that we are nothing but a bunch of repulsive hypocrites for supporting Misty and her half-truths without question while attacking Quayle.

Well, to that Mr. Conservative, I say that there is a complete difference. Misty is a Democrat, and an absolutely loyal one at that! You just leave her alone so that we can make Evansville even safer for nepotism and cronyism.

    • Hey man!. You don’t have to go over seas to be an “official veteran”. People who support the troops are as important or maybe more important that those that drop the 1000 lb bombs or drive the tanks. A tank can’t do squat when it runs out of gas.(reference the German Tiger Tanks during the last days of the Battle of the Bulge during WWII). And a tank driver can’t function very long if he runs out of potable drinking water in the desert. And even the soldiers fighting in the streets of Iraqi Cities can’t do much without ammo or other supplies. A very important WWII General and later President of the United States claimed that three things help win WWII. One was the Duce and a Half truck which hauled the supplies from the home front to the front lines. Another was the LST which also hauled supplied to the front lines and Europe. And the third was the Transport Planes that flew the troops to the fight. I might add that Rosie the Riveter was also pretty important to the fight as without her (them) the guys would not have had the P-47 Fighter Plane and the B17 Bombers to fight the Germans and Japanese with during WWII. And the people back home working in the factories were damn important as they helped to make the tanks and the LST’s to transport the tanks to Europe from the USA. The merchant marine guys also were hugely important for without them not of the supplies would have been able to make it from the USA to the war in Europe or the Pacific. So “LOGISTICAL SUPPORT” is the key to winning a war. Getting the men and their supplies to the fight is just as important as the fight itself. You can’t make one more important than the other and to do so is foolish and not realistic thinking. I’d call it POMPOUS Thinking IMHO. Some veterans are just blowing their own horns and don’t want anyone else to get any credit. And Yea I know some of them didn’t make it back home or came home in less than one piece but they were not the only people that got hurt. Many people got hurt in the factories making the supplies for the war during WWII. Life in the factory may not have been as unpleasant as living in a fox hole being shot at but both of those people are considered to be “VETERANS”. PERIOD

I read that article and several of the veterans are saying the very same thing that I’m saying to you right now. Pompous guys who think that they are the only veterans that count are a problem with the Veteran Crowds. They think that they are the only ones worth of praise or rewards for serving their country. But I say that anyone who steps up to the plate and signs up to serve in the US Military (any service including the coast guard) are just as worth of veteran benefits and such.

      M. Hart instead of Misty Hart to me is a more sinister decision than for her to claim to be a Veteran. Actually I think she never claimed to be a Iraqi COMBAT veteran. Now that would be a little difference since she was not anywhere near the front where she could have been shot at. Not many enemy Iraqi Soldiers are going to make it to Indiana where she served in the Air Force National Guard Unit. And serving in the National Guard these days is nothing like serving in the Air National Guard back during the Vietnam War when the Air National Guard Pilots never got called up to fight over the skies of Vietnam and only flew missions in the States. The one that George Bush served in during the Vietnam War era was called the Champaign Squadron as they were filled with Pretty Boys who’s fathers were in high Political Positions. Like George Bush’s father being a very good friend of the General in charge of the Texas Air National Guard. Heck according to a lot of news reports Bush never did finish his six year term and went AWOL before his time was up. News reports say that he went to work on a political campaign in Alabama and never reported for duty and disobeyed a direct order to take a physical. He vanished and never did get tested for drug usage. Anyone else doing that would have been court marshaled ASAP, but not Georgie boy. His Daddy’s General Friend got him out of that one and the records were all destroyed according to what I’ve heard and read.

Misty is a veteran that’s for sure and she can use that term to describe herself as much as she wants and that’s ok by me. I’m proud that she signed up to serve and received an HONORABLE DISCHARGE from the Air Force Reserves.

      • Move, Your rambling didn’t justify Ms. Harts actions. No one disputes she’s a veteran, but she is making misleading claims about her service.

  2. 3. OBAMA’S BUCKET LIST

“Obama wasn’t kidding when he said being a lame duck was great. His WHCD speech was pretty fearless from “I look so old John Boehner’s already invited Netanyahu to speak at my funeral.” to “The Koch brothers think they need to spend a billion dollars to get folks to like one of these people,” Obama said of the potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates. “I raised a lot … but my middle name is Hussein.” to saying of his relationship with VPOTUS Joe Biden,{{{{{{{{ “We’ve gotten so close, in some places in Indiana, they won’t serve us pizza anymore}}}}}}}} .”I am determined to make the most of every moment I have left. After the midterm elections, advisers asked ‘Do you have a bucket list?” I have something that rhymes with Bucket List.”

      • Yeah, but this isn’t a solution, and its our groups vision to eliminate such incursion to ones daily life balances. We’ll get it done, it’ll take many hours and a lot of pure science, however we’ll beat it, its what we do. No need to lose kids to biological triggers that are preventable. Period.
Evansville must defeat the combined sewers overflows. Its within the realm of science now to do that, and with revenue base kickback funding by program staging.
Evansville must take this leap, if they don’t, well expect decreasing revenues within that small cities limits.
