Why is it that the 2nd. Amendment is the only Amendment you need a permit to use?

BP: Yours is a question of Constitutional law. Right?
So if you want an answer, the answer is gonna be a LEGAL answer. Not what plays well on talk radio. Not what is easy to say….something like, “owebama said so, that’s why.” None of those are LEGAL answers, although they are purely fun to say if you host a talk radio program, and you rely on making your listeners paranoid so they will tune in tomorrow. My point is, the answer to your question is a LEGAL answer.
Here it is:
Because the Supreme Court ruled that America’s right to free speech, right to bear arms, vote in elections….are ALL guaranteed by the Constitution, the Supreme Court also said in a loud and clear voice, essentially, but that does not also mean the Government can’t set some rules and regulations to monitor those things. Seizing the rights away? Nope. Can’t do that. Set some rules and regulations for those things? Yes…that does not violate a citizen’s Constitutional right.
SO, you have rules like:
1. Voting rules and hours can be established. We vote for Presidents the first Tuesday in November, for example.
2. While you do have free speech, if you yell “FIRE” in a crowded theater, you can be put in jail for endangering people. (Some people intend to challenge that, and they disagree. They say you CAN yell “FIRE” in a theater and create chaos that kills people because they say it is their First Amendment right. Hopefully, that will hold up again in the Supreme Court.
3. The government CAN set rules on how guns are sold and registered. Like they can’t be sold to convicted felons, or to convicted terrorists. The Supreme Court said you CAN set some rules, because I am sure, you likely agree, that selling AK47 guns freely and without any conditions whatsoever to terrorists is a bad idea BALLOONPILOT.
So, BP…this answer to your 2nd Amendment question. Everyone who agrees that the rule that selling guns to convicted felons shouldn’t allowed – that makes them a liberal in your eyes? Is your standard for who is a liberal so low that your gonna call people who believe in not selling guns to convicted felons are liberals too?
Several big oil Congress Members want to end the ban on exporting American oil.
WHAT?
This ban was put in place to avoid dependence on foreign oil because it makes the US vulnerable to threats to national security when we have to rely on those foreign countries for their oil. The whole slogan “Drill for American oil!. Keep America safe! Don’t let foreign oil drive up OUR gas prices!” was created to keep America oil stockpiles high, and keep America safe.
So….the US did. And we still import foreign oil, but we’ve dented it enormously. We are nicely energy independent.
But big oil wants to make money. Lots of it. And if they ship their America oil overseas, to say China, they can get a higher price than American’s pay. It will reduce supply in the US, and they can also increase gas prices in the US. (They don’t work for America. They work for the highest price. To hell with American security.)
SO……..you would figure FOX NEWS would support an effort to keep America safe and ban exports of American oil.
NOPE. They have been bought off by big oil. More than that….THEY ARE TRYING TO BLAME OBAMA. Here is the headline this morning:
REPUBLICANS FUMING AFTER OBAMA THREATENS TO VETO MAJOR ENERGY BILL
(…by the way, “energy bill?” This is an export bill. Not an energy bill!)
Fox News today: “Congressional Republicans are fuming after the White House threatened to veto a bill that would repeal the 40-year ban on crude oil exports, with GOP lawmakers saying the repeal is urgently needed to boost the economy and bolster national security. Republicans also have argued that lifting the ban would bring national security benefits, as U.S. allies might be less likely to rely on Russia and possibly even Iran for their oil needs. “This would be hundreds of thousands of jobs for hard-working Americans across the supply chain,” Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, who sponsored the bill, told FoxNews.
SO:
1. Blame Obama. Some people will agree to raise their own gas prices AND make America weaker if you frame it as “That damn Obama. He’s trying to stop us again.” This is pure exploitation of people.
2. Fox News. Supposedly the national network of make America strong is trying to export America oil.
Pretty disgusting.
I believe we may know now why kevin mccarthy declined to run for Speaker on such short and surprising notice: He may have had an extremarital affair with renee ellmers. I have it on pretty reliable authority both will be resigning their offices by Monday.
Drama and talk radio chatter/gossip is popular with TP’rs.
I prefer they actually get some things done.
