I see the McCurdy is back in the news and that this time the opening date is only 16 months away. This is about the 20th such announcment since Mayor Weinzapfel smiled and claimed victory 7 years ago this month. Does anyone really think the money to do this is going to magically appear this time?

Anyone who believes that the Kunkel Group will remodel the McCurdy Hotel in Downtown Evansville, IN is a dreamer and can’t predict the future based on past experiences over the last many years.

The Kunkels let one of the areas premier money-finders get hired by the public sector. Local P’s unparalleled ability to divine money from nowhere would have come in handy with the McCurdy project.
The day’s reader’s poll is odd. What is the basis for asking such a leading question? Is there some scuttle going around about Mr. Coures making a less than transparent deal that will have a less than positive impact on Evansville taxpayers again?
It appears that is just want Mr Coures did. Did he ask permission from the City Council to buy these properties? I personally thing that the City Council needs to have more oversight on these type of spending. The city should not be in the business of buying up commercial properties.
You would be better off asking Fox News why they are so slanted to the right. But then again we know the answer to that questions don’t we?
