Development Deal Announced on River House Hotel
(EVANSVILLE, IN) – The City of Evansville announces Miller-Valentine Group, a nationally recognized residential and commercial real estate development and management company former River House Hotel, 20 Walnut St., to convert the property into 65 affordable, high-quality senior housing units.
MVG has presented a preliminary plan for an $11.5 million project, which may include demolition of the annex structure across the street from the main building to construct townhome-style units. The townhomes would be connected to the main building, which would contain 1-and-2 bedroom apartment units. MVG has developed similar properties in Bloomington, Columbus and Kokomo, Indiana. The project will utilize a variety of funding sources, including tax credits and Indiana Community Housing Development Commission Authority (IHCDA) funding. Further details about the plan and a timeline for development will be released soon.

The C&P is reporting that the “City” has “retracted” this statement! I guess this news wasn’t supposed to get out until after they had the HCW deal all “wrapped up.”
This just destroyed any trust I had left in our inept Mayor and his minions.
Why in the hell would the city make this announcement anyway? Isn’t that building privately owned by the guy that owns the Acropolis restaurant?
So the West side Food street festival is the first week of October?
I’ve been to that event before,the thing is an charity fund drive.
They told me the club puts it on and donates proceed’s.
Last year that Street was crammed full of people and food booths.so was the parking for seven blocks around the place. Why don;t they build an parking garage?
Kind of like the Frog follies sure lot’s of people show up parking all over the place thousand of cars.can’t get an room within 50 miles of the 4H grounds.They’re even booked in advance from when the event closes the previous year.
Might be an good street for an mid sized hotel offering.

The Tin Man brewery is an innovative place,looks great.
Someone should build an 190 bed hotel somewhere on that strip. Lots of attractions and nice throughput access to, whether ones afoot or in an motor vehicle.
Close to downtown and the USI campus, has nearby shopping with easy access to the Highway.
Very cool spot,needs some rooms there.maybe even use for the older outdated loft applications. The basic needs infrastructure is already there close by. Food venues,and easy access for super centers and other service’s type needs infrastructure down the road to the west. walking connections with street venues.
The VFW is an large one for sure. There is some decent views from there if an hotel was actually tall enough for an river view,looks like the location has access to your cities Green Way trails on location to.
That’s cool because of the access for cycling quickly to close by events and venues,alternate transportation assets.
Needs a hotel there if you ask me,The large ole church looks nice and those large homes along Wabash Avenue are an pleasure to look at.

According to the Manager of the Kunkel Groups “Market Street Living” complex, seniors are not beating down the doors to move there.
