EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Athletics announced the addition of Kara Carlson as its Director of Academic and Support Services for the Screaming Eagles. She will serve as the liaison between Athletics, each of USI’s four college, the USI Center for Exploring Major advising centers, and the USI Registrar.
“USI is really excited to have Kara join our Athletics team,” said USI Director of Athletics Jon Mark Hall. “Kara will be a huge resource for our student athletes, helping them to be as successful in the classroom as they are in athletic competition.”
Â
Carlson comes to USI after spending a year at the University of Evansville as an assistant women’s basketball coach (2021-22) and recruiting coordinator. She helped guide incoming freshmen players through the admissions process and was the player academic coach, in addition to her regular coaching duties.
Â
Prior to her tenure at Evansville, Carlson spent three successful seasons at Grand Valley State University (2018-21) and helped guide the Lakers to a 71-13 mark. GVSU appeared in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional each of her three seasons as an assistant.

Carlson, a native of Kent City, Michigan, earned her bachelor’s degree from CUAA in family life education in 2016.
