Wildcat Construction Zone: Building Health Bodies Event

Oak Hill School Gymnasiums
Families of students attending Oak Hill School have been invited to attend an event celebrating the school receiving a Carol M. White Physical Education Program Grant (PEP). The event will have a host of information, and activities for children and families showcasing how to build healthy bodies. The EVSC, for many years, has worked on coordinated school health – as a way to wrap supports around children so that they are healthy both through nutrition and physical activity, and also socially and emotionally.
Activities at Oak Hill will include:
- Yoga, and Zumba
- Health screenings and nutrition education from USI Dietetic students with smoothies to try
- Grow Your Own Garden information and opportunity for children to plant herbs, hosted by the Master Gardner Association
- Tower Gardens and how they work
- Information about how much sugar is in different foods
- Registration for the upcoming Wildcat Obstacle Event on April 11 at 9 a.m.
- Information about recycling at the Evansville Solid Waste District booth
- Purdue Extension Office – Choose my Plate – info on food pyramid and how to make easy recipes at home
- PEP Grant information for families
- Off the Fence Farms – info on eating organic and Farmer Joe with Seaton Harvest
- YMCA boxing demonstration and information
- mini Obstacle Course
- Club Bushido – judo demonstrations
- Smoke Free Communities – Simulator showing what it is like to breathe if you are someone who smokes
- Hydration Station…and much, much more
