We wanted to update you on two significant winter weather systems that are slated to impact us this week. Â ATTACHED BELOW IS THE LINK OF THE WINTER STORM WARNING-SITUATION REPORT PROVIDED TO US BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOCATED IN PADUCAH, KENTUCKY.

The first system arrives  last night and will last through Monday night. There will likely be two waves of snow. One that starts last night and then a second, more heavier wave of snow, on Monday into Monday night. A winter storm warning is in effect from 6pm tonight through 6am Tuesday for the entire area (southeast MO, southern IL, southwest IN and western KY). Snowfall totals of 4-8 inches are forecast with locally higher amounts certainly possible.
After a brief reprieve on Tuesday, another strong weather system impacts the area on Wednesday and lasts through Thursday evening. This system will bring another round of snow to the area. There is a possibility parts of western KY could end up seeing a period of freezing rain/sleet at some point on Thursday as well. There is confidence that we could see multiple inches of snow with this event. Stay tuned to the latest forecasts as updates are inevitable this week.
Cold weather is also going to stay with us for a while. But there is light at the end of the tunnel, with highs above freezing expected area wide by next weekend.
As a reminder, we would certainly appreciate any snowfall reports during these events and especially storm total snowfall reports at the very end of the event. Your reports are very important!
Be safe and stay warm.
Thanks,
 EMA Director
