Resource and Awareness Task Force Announces Additional Neighborhood COVID-19 Free Testing Sites

JUST IN: VANDERBURGH COUNTY HAD 17 NEW COVID-19 CASES YESTERDAY AND IT BEEN REPORTED THAT WE HAVE 27 NEW CASES AS NOON TODAY.  THIS IS THE HIGHEST TWO DAY COVID-19 TOTAL  REPORTED SO FAR IN VANDERBURGH COUNTY.

The Resource and Awareness Task Force announced the additions of several new neighborhood COVID-19 free testing sites to be located in Evansville, starting with the first site in the 47714 zip code.

Through partnerships between the Task Force, the County Council, and the Vanderburgh County Health Department new testing sites will be administered locally by local health professionals for residents who would like to be tested.  The dates, times, and locations of these sites will be shared with the public as soon as final details are confirmed and all logistics are in place.

This is the first of many free testing sites locally where folks who want access to free coronavirus testing can do so; regardless of symptoms or exposure.  These sites will be drive-up sites, but there will be contingencies for those who may not have transportation to come through the testing site.

The Health Department wants to thank County Council member, Stephanie Terry, for spearheading this funding effort, and to the entire County Council for their approval and passage of this transfer request.

Stephanie has stated, “More testing leads to tracing, and more tracing leads to more protection of our community.  Approval of these funds is a true winner and will provide us the necessary resources to target our most vulnerable populations in the community and get us on the road to healing.

“The more testing, the better,” said County Commissioner Ben Shoulders.

The Vanderburgh County COVID-19 Resource and Awareness Task Force is a 17 person committee, chaired by the Health Department and meets weekly.  The Health Department appreciates all the member’s efforts and partnerships that have been created as we continue to work through COVID-19 issues in our community.  The Task Force plans on having weekly free testing in areas that have seen a number of cases and have a need for additional resources.

County Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave said, “This is a wonderful example of Vanderburgh County coming together to keep everyone safe and healthy.”

City Council President Alex Burton stated, “Every resident deserves access to testing, I’m so very grateful that the residents of 47714 now have testing conveniently placed for their use.”

These testing sites will be advertised weekly and will occur at different locations.  For any additional questions, inquires or registration, please contact the Vanderburgh County Health Department at 812-435-2468

  1. Wonderful leadership by local officials. Thank you.

Tragic, negligent leadership by our President, Trump, I’m afraid. He’s abandoned his job to protect our Country. The damage to the economy is unthinkable. He is a disaster.
