Bicentennial Park – Public Open House Design Charrette Tonight

There will be a public meeting to review and comment on plans for Bicentennial Park on Thursday, May 3rd from 7pm to 9pm at the Old Post Office. The meeting is an open house format, which will allow participants the flexibility of arriving and leaving at their convenience. To that end, there will be no formal large group presentation. Members of the design team and the Department of Metropolitan Development will be present to review the plans with attendees and receive comment and feedback on the proposed design. The design team includes RATIO Architects, Bernardin Lochmueller & Associates, Hafer and Associates and Bill Gaisser Designs/Architecture.

  1. Another Park that we can’t afford. No, I am not just being negative. I have asked and asked and asked and asked about changes to the Park Systems and have always been told that they don’t have the budget. Then JW provisions a new park for the City? Really? We can’t afford them now and we are adding to them?

    We have some Parks in town that are under utilized. We need to look at letting them go if we are installing new ones in town. Growth is not the problem in Evansville, responsible growth is.

  2. The past Mayor dreamed this idea of a downtown Bicentennial Park during his last days in office. Vanderburgh County Commissioner Joe Kiefer have a offer in hand to develope this downtown lot into Multi purpose Shopping area. Plans were drawn up for a first class Deli, Gas Station, Drug Store and Supermarket that sales groceries. The new Mayor vowed to reverse this decision about putting a Bicentennial on this downtown lot so it would be become a income producing Commercial development this would enhance downtown. You guess our new Mayor noew supports the downtown Bicentennial Park idea. Remember he ran as a pro business Mayor during the election. What a two face liar!

    Our no back bone Mayor backed off and now we can expect another park that will house our area drunks and hookers!

    • Winnecke has proven that he is not capable of making an intelligent decision over and over again. He fell for the Earthcare deal and is basically carrying out Weinzapfel’s wet dreams. The next 3.5 years are going to be a joke.

  3. Didn’t Mayor Winnecke campaign on a platform called “Pro Business Development”? Promises made and promises broken!
