Arrest of an E.P.D. Officer

In partnership with the Department of Child Services (D.C.S.) and the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office (V.C.P.O.), the Evansville Police Department investigated E.P.D. Officer Jamarius Dontae Ward (33) for a domestic violence incident involving his son.

As a result of this investigation, Ward was arrested and charged with:

1 count of Domestic Violence on a Family Member under the age of 14 (Level 5 Felony) 1 count of Battery by an Adult on a Person less than 14 years old (Level 5 Felony).

Ward is currently incarcerated at the Vanderburgh County Corrections Center.

E.P.D. will be hosting a news briefing on February 4 at the C.K. Newsome Center to give further details. No other information will be released until tomorrow’s briefing. The time of the news briefing will be determined tomorrow and the media will be notified.
