In recognition of a generous $1 million gift from Ronald ’73 and Connie ’74 Romain to the University of Southern Indiana Foundation committed at the time of USI’s move from Division II to Division I athletics, the Screaming Eagles Arena atrium has been named the Ronald ’73 and Connie ’74 Romain Atrium. The new nameplate was installed in December.

Funds from the commitment are being used to support USI Athletics and the move to Division I.

“The Romains have supported the University for many years, and we are extremely grateful for their generous support of our institution and its students,” says Jon Mark Hall, Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics. “Ron is a former USI student-athlete, so he and Connie know first-hand how much this support means to our student-athletes and USI Athletics.”

The Romains are longtime supporters of the University, including a $5 million leadership gift to Campaign USI: Elevating Excellence, which resulted in the naming of the Romain College of Business. Ron Romain has served on the USI Board of Trustees since 2008 and previously served as Board Chair. He has also served as USI Foundation Board Chair and was Chair of the University’s last capital campaign.
