Aces cross country to run in the Live in Lou Classic

The Purple Aces return to action in one of the largest cross country meets in the country
 
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Evansville cross country teams will run in their last road meet of the season before MVC Championships in October.

Afte two weeks of training following their first full 8K and 5K races, the Purple Aces are back on the course Saturday afternoon in Louisville. Both the men’s and the women’s teams will participate in the Live in Lou Classic, one of the largest cross country meets in the United States. The Aces will be participating in the College Silver Races along with 65 other schools and club programs. In the Silver Race, UE will see Western Kentucky, Jacksonville State, and Austin Peay at the Division I level.

On Saturday, the men will run the 8K course at E. P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park at 11 a.m. CT. The women will run the 5K course following the men at 11:45 a.m. CT. For each race, the meet will award the top three teams and the top 25 finishers. In last year’s Live in Lou Classic, UE returners Adam Oulgout ran 26:30.9 to place 50th out of 412 runners while Joey Taylor ran a time of 28:54.1.

In their last meet two weeks ago, the men’s and the women’s cross-country teams placed 15th of 18 teams at the John McNichols Invitational. The men’s team averaged a time of 26:31.0 for the 8K while the women’s team averaged a time of 19:45.0 for the 5K. Sonja Inzinger paced all Ace runners finishing 36th with a time of 18:28.7. On the men’s side, Samuel Lea was top of the pack for the second meet in a row with a time of 25:54.9 and a 75th place finish.Â
