BREAKING NEWS: Bally’s Remains Open After Car Drives Off Bally’s Parking Garage

0
Updated November 25, 2024 at 7:30 PM
Operations are returning to normal at Bally’s after a strange incident this morning.
In the midst of the normal morning routine at Bally’s Casino, the sense of normal disappeared in one frightening moment when a car came crashing through the roof of the conference center. That car came from the top floor of the attached parking garage.
At the time of the crash, Koorsen Fire and Safety was hosting a conference for building inspectors and firefighters at the site. Koorsen is the fire protection company for Bally’s, and they aided in getting the building’s systems turned off. Firefighters and others attending the conference rendered aid at the scene.
The vehicle hit a concrete barrier, causing it to drop through the roof of the conference center, followed by the Ford SUV. The driver of the vehicle was the only injury.
A crane was brought in during the afternoon to lift the SUV and the concrete barrier out of the conference center.
The unanswered question is, “Why?” Police are putting together all of the information, looking at video footage, and planning to talk to the driver to determine what happened.

Bally’s was able to continue with normal casino operations through the day today and the parking garage will remain close until further notice.

Bally’s released the following statement: “We are currently investigating an incident involving a vehicle that drove off the seventh floor of our parking garage and will provide updates as necessary. Upon initial review, the incident appears to be the result of driver error. There are no signage or structural issues with the parking garage. The safety of our guests and staff remains our top priority.”

Aces Play to Draw on Senior Night

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville men’s soccer team remained unbeaten in MVC play on Friday night, playing visiting Bradley to a 1-1 draw at Arad McCutchan Stadium. The Purple Aces honored a nine-member senior class – Hugo Amo, Nacho Diaz-Caneja, Tancredi Fadda, Nacho Garcia, Kobe Grant, Matt Hawkins, Kyle Penders, Nate Roberts, and Nalu Wagner – prior to the match to celebrate Senior Night.

Evansville faced an early deficit, as Bradley struck for the night’s first goal in the eighth minute of play.

Aces’ keeper Michal Mroz (Elk Grove, Ill./Elk Grove) kept the score at 1-0 in the 11th minute, making a leaping save to deny the Braves.

In the 27th minute, Andres Escudero (San Sebastián de los Reyes, Spain/IES Joan Miro) gave Evansville a chance to equalize by drawing a yellow card in the box to earn a penalty kick. Martin Wurschmidt (Stavern, Norway/Thor Heyerdahl VGS) stepped to the spot for the Purple Aces and buried a shot into the top left corner to even the match. With the goal, Wurschmidt improves to 3-for-3 on the season from the penalty spot.

After the match went into halftime tied at one, Evansville worked to generate the go-ahead goal with a shot from Ben Zec (Carmel, Ind. Carmel), and two shots by Tancreddi Fadda (Monza, Italy/University of Milan) in the 50th, 52nd and 54th minutes. Fadda was active again in the 57th minute, putting a shot on target, while Will Bencic (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East) added a shot on goal of his own in the 59th minute, but both shots were saved as the match remained tied at one.

Fadda saw another shot saved in the 72nd minute, while Mroz matched Bradley keeper Drew Berry with a save of his own in the 74th minute, making an aggressive play on a breakaway to deny the Braves of the go-ahead goal.

The Purple Aces searched for the winner in the final 15 minutes of play, notching nine more shots, including two shots on goal, but the Aces were unable to find the back of the night as the match ended in a draw.

“When you concede the first goal of the match, it makes everything tougher,” said Head Coach Robbe Tarver. “Over the last two games, we have conceded first and we have had to battle back. Ultimately, we did not do enough to get the winner, but we worked for it.”

“At the end of the day, we are at worst still tied for first in the conference, still undefeated in conference play. There are still positives to take from today, but still a big missed opportunity to take a big step to hosting and accomplishing some of the goals we want to achieve.”

“We were able to celebrate our nine seniors and put forth a performance that I think everybody is proud of despite not getting the win that we wanted.”

On the night, Evansville out-shot Bradley 21-6, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. Fadda led the match with six shots and three shots on goal, while Devin Shepherd (Denver, Colo/Arapahoe) added four shots and Escudero added three.

With the tie, Evansville moves to 4-3-8 overall and 2-0-3 in MVC play, moving into a tie atop the MVC table with Drake at nine points. UE takes a break from conference play on Monday with a trip to Louisville to take on the Cardinals. Kick-off is set for 5 PM.

The Word 120, The Message of Jesus

The Message of Jesus by Jerome Stewart

Romans chapter 10 vs. 15 says; As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who *preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” Believe it to the fullest extent possible that all hope rests with Jesus Christ. He is the mediator to the Father of Heaven for all of mankind, who advocates on behalf of the sinner or whatever else He so chooses to do. The beauty of God’s word is in knowing, God allows for the redemption of the sinner.

Believe to the fullest extent possible the words of the Apostle Paul in 2nd. Corinthians chapter 5 vs. 17 which says; “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away; behold all things become new.”

When Jesus was on earth as God in the flesh, His number one mission was to do the will of the Father who sent Him, to save mankind from the penalty of sinful behavior. That’s why the evangelistic mission is so important. Saving souls is at stake.

Salvation is available to anyone irrespective of gender, socio-economic factors, whether one is rich or poor, and may God help us understand, believers do not worship an African-American, Caucasian, Black, Chinese, or Hispanic God.  John 4 vs. 24 Jesus says; “God is a Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

There’s more. Paul said to the brethren in Galatians 3 vss. 27 and 28; “For as many as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

There’s more!  Jeremiah known as the weeping prophet says in chapter 9 vss. 23 and 24; “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor the rich man glory in his riches: But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight says the LORD.”

Jeremiah chapter 10 vs. 10 says; “But the LORD is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King.” The problem today is rooted in the meaning of the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians chapter 3 vss. 17 and 18 which says; “Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.”
