IS IT TRUE March 18, 2014

IS IT TRUE we are extremely pleased that CAJE have targeted Mental health and Housing issues for this coming year?  …access to affordable housing should be a major concern because we have about 10,000 area families who can’t find housing in our area?
IS IT TRUE we were surprised to hear that the Evansville Police Department has not adopted the use of the Opiate Overdose Antidote equipment going to first responders by CAJE?

IS IT TRUE we congratulate Shannon Edwards, the Chief Deputy of the Vanderburgh County Recorder’s Office for taking the initiative to assist homeless veterans at this year’s Vanderburgh Homeless Connect on March 19, 2015?….the event, in its 7th year, will take place at the Old National Events Plaza and provide vital same day services to area homeless or near homeless?…last year’s event had over 1,000 guests, more than 75 service providers and approximately 5,300 services provided that ranged from haircuts and meals to medical care and assistance with housing?….the Vanderburgh County Recorder’s Office will be onsite to record paperwork essential to veterans applying for services?….Ms. Edwards is also making it possible for veterans with service animals to get veterinarian services that day?….this event could still use volunteers, and readers may find out more at http://www.vanderburghhomelessconnect.org/ ?
IS IT TRUE we would like to point out how impressed we are with newly elected Vanderburgh County Sheriff David Wedding? …we would like to tell Sheriff Wedding keep up the good work?

  1. Commending Sheriff Wedding for what? He can’t walk and chew gum, he can’t add 2 + 2, he’s good at dating girl’s half his age and ..well you get the point. Look at his half-baked Chief Deputy.

  2. Whew! How the mighty have fallen!

Is this what passes for the the City County Observer’s “Is it True” from now on?

    • Shem you are going to have to find another blog to troll. You are right that the IIT has fallen. Today was all good news and fluff. Nothing much to see here today except for the Trolls.

Q: Where do all the trolls go when the Bridges are torn down?

      • You guys have a good day…I’m outta here, we’re buying some new equip!

      • Move, In other good news did you see where the P.M. of Israel (Mr. Net) was reelected easier than thought. It appears the campaign workers President Obama sent to Israel to work against him didn’t help that much.

        • In other news the melting of an antartic glacier is speeding up and could raise sea levels by 11 ft. If that happens there won’t be an Israel anymore. Unless they figure out how to live under the water. Where is Al Gore when we need him? I heard he might run for President again.
How’s the job at the Evansville Courier and Press hit squad going? I hear that they are in trouble and have sent people out like you to try to drum up business in a desperation move to save the paper and your job.

          • Move on, I’m astonished you would say something like that. You want the nation of Israel to disappear ?

          • That’s bad stuff with the melting ice sheets surrounding the southern polar continent. Going on up north as well. People just don’t understand the global transition the planets going through now. Climate migration is becoming a very serious planetary problem. Places that are strategically located will see climate migration pressures. The plans need to be in place soon. Coastal living where one is only four feet above high tide sea levels are going to be inundated by 2035. People will stress the goldilocks zones by pure migration. Exactly why the Ohio valley communities should place that infrastructure now.

        • Ironically, President Obama did attend the speech Bibi gave before the congress because he didn’t want to influence the then upcoming elections in Israel. I wonder what he thought sending our tax dollars over to help the opposition was going to do.

    • G’Mornin’ to ya’ shem
Did you read the IIT? Mental health and housing issues are being addressed … homeless Veterans will be receiving better assistance … a lively Mayoral contest has begun AND Sheriff Wedding receives a nod.
Really Shem … everything is gonna be just fine … maybe get outside and breathe some fresh air.
      Life is good! …

    • Ron Cosby is on the mend. He’ll be back soon. As AAron Rodgers told the Packer fans: R-E-L-A-X.

    • I am an avid City-County Observer reader for the past two years and some change are needed. I am not a native but I am a working-class citizen who appreciates being well informed of the issue that our current community and local area suffer.

From my personal perspective and well-noted observations, it appears that all of the hands in play concerning politics want to be shook and thanked before the work is done. Furthermore, everyone wants to be the chef who makes the award-winning dish, while no one is willing to be the dishwasher, the food prep guy, the place setter, etc.’

Evansville and some local areas has become an egotistically-driven market for antics, not politics. Teamwork is about as extinct as dinosaurs and wooly mammouths.

Why not bring about a change without having to point at our own work with a camera up? Why not digress from putting our name and face to every idea or resolution as if that person is the Messiah of the Midwest?

Why not leave a 71-plus year old be, as he continues to be a voice of reason in the genuine efforts to make things better, before we make them bigger… why not show respect for the entity of CCO for providing the class and dignity that journalism deserves unlike the Evansville Copy & Paste (COURIER & DEPRESSED)?

Kudos to Joe Wallace on a job well-done … and continued to prosperity to CCO, Publisher Ron Cosby and his team of Moles … Let’s make Evansville a better house and not a bigger rental!

  3. If Steve Davis beats messy, can that snake Wayne put up a Republican against him in the fall anyway or do they have to be filed in a primary? Could it be messy? Anyone familiar with the election laws?

    • Both parties have until July to fill any open
slots on their ticket. Not sure of the date.
No Missy wouldn’t be able to run on the repub
      ticket or as a independent

    • Why do you care? You have stated you are leaving this area. so do us all a favor and Shut Up!
Nobody cares that you hate everything and everyone except Obama. Go live in California or Russia and bitch there.
as a token of good will I will buy your first tank of gas as you are leaving.

      • I am still working on leaving. If I could pull it off today, I would. Meanwhile I’m stuck with our clown show local govt who you’re apparently a shill for. Is that you, missy?

        • Ghost, I’m still in w/$100 contribution a provable one way Greyhound bus ticket. Let’s make it happen.

      • I’m sure if he buys a paper Cowboy will still have a job. But he’s not going to buy a paper or subscribe to the paper either.

        • Move, If he buys a paper or not doesn’t effect me. He could stay better informed though. How do you know so much about whether he will or not. Do you all live together ? Are you him also ?

    • I think Steve Davis will beat Missy hand down. She is not liked by anyone but the Mayor and he only gets one vote. Thousands of others will be voting for Steve. He’s a much better candidate.

    • I was wondering if that is how it was too. After the articles about the boat fire and the Rieckens getting arrested Joe left CCO rather abruptly. And the content is a little scarce the last couple of days.

I’ve not read much about the Moles lately either. So Maybe Joe was the ones with all the sources (inside city hall connections) took them with him. I’m just guessing based on what I see in here. But things have certainly changed since Joe left.

BTW where is Laura these days? I see her comments on ET and the Evansville Post Face Book Page but not in here much anymore.

As for the plug in here for the Sheriff. Remember that the CCO has stated that they contacted the local Sheriff about the harassment that they were receiving. I hope the perps responsible for harassing the Publisher are caught and severely punished.

      • Anyone heard from Armstrong ? He could be busy. This may be the time of year they fill out their forms for the farm subsidies.

      • Move, The local paper reported Ms. Riecken and hubby copped a plea and walked with probation. When they raised the large boat they found items that warranted more checking. They were moved to a secure place.

        • Cowboy
If that kerosene heater has working modern safety features … some creative thinking may have to come into play
          Jus sayin. … LOL! …

        • The newspaper also reported that the Il congressman is resigning. Seems he is some kind of hot water and is trying to say out of Jail.

          • Move, Have you been reading the paper ? Are you the type of person that bad mouths our local paper then goes to Hardees or the Donut bank and gets upset if they don’t have a copy for you to read

        • Yea I know. 5 to 8 objects were secured as evidence. You don’t collect evidence if the fire is accidental. Just saying. I wonder if the EFD likes working and cooperating with the EPA. The mayor sure doesn’t like to corporate with the USEPA much on the water problems.

  4. All this speculation is meaningless, if the sheepole vote as they always do then expect more of the same. Name recognition gets votes. So talk to your neighbors and family vote against anyone in office now. Change can happen but not if you pull the lever according to party and not for our own best interests. Forget D or R, both sides SUCK equally. Only by electing outsiders will we ever get back to a government for and by the people.
The worst part is that it has gotten to the point that if anyone wants to be in office then we probably shouldn’t
elect them just for that reason.

  5. Has anyone been to the new restaurant “Toast” at the Helfrich golf course clubhouse? It’s supposed to serve Polish food and on weekends they have bands (Polka?) to 3:00 am. Any reports would be welcome.

Too bad Mesker Amphitheater isn’t open for lack of BASIC MAINTENANCE. Dinner at Toast followed by an outdoor concert at Mesker would have been a fun evening. I still wish Al Lindsey would fight like a wounded otter to reopen Mesker Amphitheater.

  6. “IS IT TRUE we were surprised to hear that the Evansville Police Department has not adapted the use of the Opiate Overdose Antidote equipment going to first responders by CAJE?”

When did EPD receive these items? Before simply handing new equipment to people and saying something akin to “Here. Use this stuff.”, most public safety agencies provide training for their people. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if there was a lag of several weeks or a month or so before such training could be organized and provided for every patrol officer after such a donation was made.

If these items have indeed been provided to ‘first responders’, I assume that does NOT mean firefighters? Because I was on duty 3 days ago and this is the first I’ve heard of such a donation.

  7. Wow, as much I as usually disagree with Shem, this site has collapsed into nothing but LKB’s personal depository for what “she thinks” is important. (Yeah I know we aren’t supposed to know she is the editor, but come on it’s pretty obvious). All I have seen all week are thinly disgused left leaning articles and fluff about how great them democrats are and how horrible anyone else is who thinks differently . I thought this site was supposed to be a non-partisan watchdog/investigative type site?

    • I expect this comment will be removed immediately, too, just like my prior one in which I advised all readers that I have not written nor edited a single word of CCO since Joe Wallace left. To clarify, my departure was only indirectly tied to Joe’s, but if the editor will not leave this post up, I hope that he/she will have the common decency to issue a disclaimer about me having any further contribution to this site. I don’t write the way the person “editing” does. For example, I would never use “adapt” where the correct word is “adopt.”

        • It was only what I posted here. I’m amazed it’s still up. I won’t go into details about personal disappointments. I just want people to know it isn’t me doing this.

          • “In spite of my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage.”

….I think ELKAYBEE is saying she wouldn’t go in the cage if hell froze over. Good for her.

It has become obvious there isn’t an editor. At least what we all have come to think an editorial contributor is anyway. Portends? Nothing but bad things.

    • I know a great Facebook page you’ll LOVE. It’s called “Watch Out Evansville”.

  8. I see the city is advertising the water superintendent job. Is Duckworth out? See that’s what’s missing all of the sudden, inside info.
