Arts Council February Brown Bag Schedule

The Brown Bag Performance Series is a free program offered to the community by the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana. The series runs weekly from October through April at the Arts Council’s BSF Gallery, located at 318 Main Street in downtown Evansville. The Brown Bag Performance Series is every Wednesday at noon. Summer performances are once a month. It is encouraged to bring your lunch and a friend, and enjoy the free local performances. The Brown Bag Series is made possible in part by the Mesker Music Trust, managed by Fifth Third Investment Advisors. Below is the schedule for February. 

3/4/15 – Rhein Valley Brass: The Rhein Valley Brass was originally organized by Dr Fredrich Kiechle as Die Oberbayerische Blasskapelle in 1974, the house band of Germania Maennerchor, an Evansville, Indiana German singing society. The group consists of Larry Miller, baritone; Charlie Haas, trombone; Dan Kieffer, trumpet; Dana Meyer, clarinet; Janet Voyles, clarinet; Wayne Oldham, drums; Dan Schultz, tuba; and Rick Huffman, trumpet.

The Rhein Valley Brass performs locally at numerous public functions as well as traveling with the Maennerchor singers to Nord Americanische Saengerbund clubs in Indianapolis, Louisville, Cleveland, Columbus, & Chicago. They have entertained at the Haubstadt, Indiana Sommerfest for over 20 years as well as Germania Maennerchors own Annual Volksfest for over 28 years (where they will be joined this year by their junior version The Ratskeller Band). The RVB also have been a featured attraction at the Gersthaus in Evansville & Nashville, Tennessee. For more information on the group, go to evansvillegermania.com.

3/18/15 – Tom Drury and Friends: Based in Evansville, Indiana, the Tom Drury plays jazz standards and originals in a wide range of styles. Tom will bring some surprise musical guests with him. Bring your lunch and enjoy a free jazz performance in the gallery.

3/25/15 – Tales and Scales: Evansville’s own Tales & Scales is an innovative ensemble that ignites the imaginations of young people through a unique blend of music, story, theater, and creative movement called musictelling.
