STATEHOUSE (Sept. 10, 2025) – State Rep. Tim O’Brien (R-Evansville) recently joined U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Gov. Mike Braun and other elected officials for a tour of the ongoing progress on the I-69 Ohio River Crossing project.
O’Brien said this is the second time he has met with Duffy to discuss the bi-state infrastructure project, whichincludes a bridge linking I-69 from Evansville to Henderson, Ky. Construction is expected to begin in 2027.
“It was an honor to welcome Secretary Duffy to Evansville and show him first-hand how the I-69 Ohio River Crossing project is progressing and demonstrate its future impact,” O’Brien said. “I met previously with Secretary Duffy in Washington, D.C., to share updates back in May. This follow-up visit highlights just how important the project is, not only for Evansville but on a national level as well.”
The tour included stops at Indiana construction sites as well as a stop in Henderson, Ky., to view progress on bridge approaches across the river.
O’Brien has been a vocal advocate for the I-69 Ohio River Crossing, saying it could open new opportunities for Hoosiers in the region.
“This is an important endeavor to better connect our region and accelerate economic growth,” O’Brien said. “I will continue to offer my support for this project through its completion and beyond, ensuring it delivers lasting benefits for our community.”
