Tri-State Creation Care’s 10th annual conference will be held on Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to noon at the C.K. Newsome Center in downtown Evansville. The event is free and open to the public.
Past conferences have focused on practices to mitigate climate change, but TSCC’s conference this year will zero in on how individuals and faith communities can prepare for weather emergencies and know how to help families and communities when they occur.
Speakers will include Beth Hall, Indiana’s state climate director, to explain weather trends and how to reduce their risks. Evansville Climate Action Director Lauren Norvell will discuss how our community can build its resiliency. And Cliff Weaver, director of the Evansville-Vanderburgh Emergency Management Agency, to share Vanderburgh County emergency-preparedness plans. Time will be allotted to questions.
Vendor tables will open at 8:30am, when conference registration begins. The actual conference starts at 9:00, with a prayer by the Evansville Catholic Diocese’s Bishop Joseph Siegel, followed by a candle-lighting ceremony by local youth. Snacks will be provided.
