We hope today’s “IS IT TRUE” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that this community’s responsible citizens need to address rationally and responsibly.

IS IT TRUE that a few local movers and shakers have been discussing the feasibility of building a new baseball stadium in downtown Evansville?

IS IT TRUE that city officials are seeking 10 million dollars to build a new hotel in Evansville? …that the “Longneck Hotel” would provide a warm and safe place at Mesker Park Zoo for breeding giraffes? …that a “CCO Mole” tells us that the Mesker Zoo staff wants to establish a breeding program that will produce a herd of 10-12 giraffes?

IS IT TRUE that the site of the Morton Avenue Warehouse fire was recently placed on the list to be sold in a tax sale? …that Vanderburgh County Treasurer Dottie Thomas removed Morton Avenue property from the  delinquent property tax  list so it can be sold at public auction??…that removing the property from the delinquent property tax list will allow a private company to purchase the property outright so they can to clear the rubble to enable the property to be developed?

IS IT TRUE that one of the hardest words for an elected official to say during a budget hearing is the word “NO”?

IS IT TRUE that Evansville Police Chief Phillip Smith filled in for Mayor Stephanie Terry at the most recent “Honor Flight” send-off to Washington, DC? …that Chief Smith personally shook hands with every veteran before they boarded the flight for Washington, DC? …that Chief Smith is showing the real meaning of protecting and serving by personally honoring our brave Veterans?

IS IT TRUE that Vanderburgh County Republican Precinct Committeemen (PCs) are wondering why the latest list of the current PCs has not been posted on the Vanderburgh County GOP website? …that many current Republican PCs are wondering why the only communications they have received from the local party leadership is a request for Fall Festival booth volunteers and invitations to several candidate fundraisers?

?IS IT TRUE that we are intrigued by recent public statements made by Vanderburgh County Democratic Party Chair Cheryl Schultz predicting that Vanderburgh County will turn blue in the 2024 presidential election? …that Schultz points to the election of 2008 when Obama carried the county and the possibility of a repeat this year? …that she has declined an invitation by the CCO to explain the rationale in detail about her statement?

IS IT TRUE that the Government shouldn’t do for people what they can do for themselves?

IS IT TRUE that it’s time for the people to challenge pork barrel spending?

IS IT TRUE that it is time for the masses to question the practice of political patronage?

IS IT TRUE that it’s time for the taxpayers to pay more attention to the voting habits of the local school board?

IS IT TRUE that because of the out-of-control spending habits during the last 12 years, Evansville is in serious financial trouble?

  1. About the election and Vanderburgh County turning blue, I have no doubt about that. On election day for Obama it was the first time out of five elections that I had to wait in line to vote (Lodge School). Only about a 15 minute wait but in every election before that I walked in, signed in and voted and was out 10 minutes after arriving.
