We hope that today’s IS IT TRUE provokes honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address rationally and responsibly.

We understand that sometimes people don’t always agree and discussions may become a little heated.  The use of offensive language and insults against commenters will not be tolerated and will be removed from our site.
IS IT TRUE that Asylum-seekers and secondary refugees—those who enter the United States elsewhere and then move to Indiana and tend to settle here permanently?
IS IT TRUE that as refugee populations grow, states must have the necessary infrastructure in place to resettle and support these individuals?
  IS IT TRUE that Indiana has a program that assists refugees with financial assistance, housing needs, employment, education training, and medical assistance which helps them to become self-sufficient over some time?
IS IT TRUE that the Indiana Department of Health coordinates a medical screening program for refugees through local clinics?  …that in 2016, Indiana communities welcomed 2% of refugees arriving in the U.S.?
IS IT TRUE that we wonder if you are aware that Evansville is one of many cities in Indiana that have a “WELCOME CORP”?  …that this Federal and State sponsored program accepts referrals for refugees determined to be particularly vulnerable and in need of the protection provided by third-country resettlement?
IS IT TRUE that the citizens of Evansville know that Mayor Stephanie Terry understands that she is employed by the taxpayers and not the other way around?
IS IT TRUE that the working-class people of Evansville are finally fed up with the poor conditions of our parks, and streets, high Water and Sewer bills, high property taxes, and out-of-control crime rate, and believe that Mayor Terry will improve these issues over time?
IS IT TRUE that we have been told that many taxpayers of Evansville aren’t happy with the millions of dollars spent on non-essential and irrelevant capital projects over the years?
IS IT TRUE that many City and County taxpayers are shocked to learn over the last several years that Evansville City Council and Vanderburgh County Commission have donated 300,000 dollars each to help fund EREP business and marketing activities without receiving a detailed financial report where this money was spent?
IS IT TRUE that former Evansville Mayors Jonathon Weinzapfel and Frank McDonald Jr. not only lived within their budget restraints but when they left office they had comfortable cash balances in the “Rainey Day Fund” to pass on to their successors?  …that Evansville taxpayers are hoping and praying that the outgoing Mayor did similar?
IS IT TRUE that there is no greater ambassador of goodwill than a homegrown non-partisan community newspaper? …that local newspapers can serve as a “Community Watchdog” by sounding the alarm when the citizen’s rights are being violated? …we realize that a community can have no greater ambassador of goodwill than one that keeps its citizens informed about their accomplishments, and triumphs?
IS IT TRUE that the citizens of Evansville hope that current members of the Evansville City Council will figure out a creative way to pay down Evansville’s current one (1) billion dollars plus bond indebtedness?
IS IT TRUE that the taxpayers are hoping that one day soon members of the Evansville City Council will give them a detailed financial plan on how Evansville will pay down the costs to build a new Sewer Treatment Plant on the banks of the mighty Ohio?
IS IT TRUE that our Readers Pollâ is non-scientific but trendy, and that our current Readers Pollâ question is: How do you rate the overall current condition of America?
