INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) is encouraging Hoosiers to take advantage of free health screenings, resources and information during the 38th annual Indiana Black and Minority Health Fair, being held June 27-30 at the Indiana Convention Center. The theme for this year’s fair is Culture of Health, which emphasizes the importance of bringing people together to improve the health of individuals and families throughout Indiana.
“A culture of health requires a foundation of community to thrive,” said State Health Commissioner Lindsay Weaver, M.D., FACEP. “The annual Indiana Black and Minority Health Fair is an opportunity to build and strengthen that community. In our work to reduce the health disparities affecting vulnerable populations, this event is a one-stop-shop for essential screenings and education that provides all Hoosiers with the information and tools needed to improve their health.”
The event will kick off with an opening ceremony on Thursday, June 27 at 3 p.m. in rooms 130-132 with speakers including Dr. Weaver and Lawrence Mayor Deb Whitfield.
This year’s fair will be held in halls J and K at the following times:
- Thursday, June 27: 4-8 p.m.
- Friday, June 28, 1-7 p.m.
- Saturday, June 29, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
- Sunday, June 30, Noon-6 p.m.
There will be clinicians on site offering free screenings to check for diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, vision and dental. There will also be free breast exams and hearing exams, among other screenings.
Back-to-school immunizations will also be available. Sports physicals will be provided by Community Health Network on a first come, first serve basis on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 from Noon-2 p.m. A complete list of services provided can be found HERE.
Attendees will also be able to purchase birth and death certificates on site. Birth certificates are available for $10 and death certificates are available for $8.

The health fair will also feature healthy activities such as dance fitness, yoga and chair yoga, boxing, and strength training. A complete schedule is available HERE.
“Building a culture of health within families and communities, with a focus on communities of color, can have an impact for generations,” said Antoniette Holt, Director of the Office of Minority Health at IDOH. “This could not happen without our partners coming together to make these vital services available each year. We are incredibly grateful for their efforts.”
Platinum and gold sponsors for this year’s fair are Eli Lilly and Co., Johnson & Johnson, Community Health Network, WISH-TV8, WHMB-TV40, Eskenazi Health and the Marion County Public Health Department.
