U.S. Rep. Bucshon announces he won’t seek reelection

U.S. Rep. Larry Bucshon, M.D., R-Indiana, who has represented the Eighth District since January 2011, announced Monday he will retire this year at the conclusion of the 118th Congress and not seek reelection.

“I thank my constituents for affording me this opportunity and for placing their trust in me these past 14 years,” said Bucshon in a press release. “I’ve also benefited from outstanding staff over the years that have provided excellent service to Hoosiers and to the American people.”

As a former cardiothoracic surgeon, Bucshon has focused on health care and the opioid epidemic during his time in Congress, according to his website. He also serves on the Committee on Energy and Commerce as a member of subcommittees on health, energy, and consumer protection and commerce.

“For over 230 years, men and women have chosen to serve our nation in the Congress—in many cases through very trying times in our history—and I’m honored to be included among their ranks,” he said.

Indiana Republican Party Chairwoman Anne Hathaway reacted to the news in a press release: “We are very proud of Congressman Bucshon’s many years of dedicated service to all Hoosiers, but especially to those in the 8th district. Congressman Bucshon brought a unique perspective to Congress, having served in the U.S. Navy Reserves and as a practicing physician and surgeon.

“Congressman Bucshon has worked hard over the last 13 years to improve the lives of Hoosiers and will leave Congress having made Indiana a better place. We wish Congressman Bucshon and his family the very best in the future.”

Bucshon and his family live in Vanderburgh County.

    Wow!
    You know what?
The best way I know, to make sure GOP’s Buschon’s seat goes to the Democrats?

Have Richard Moss of Jasper be the GOP candidate!

Moss has never, ever, won any election in his life.
He is likely one of the worst politicians to ever run for Office in Indiana.
Moss: Run. Lose. Run. Lose. Run. Lose. Run. Lose. Run. Lose. Moss: Lose.

No wonder Victory for Russia loves Moss! He’s like Trump, who is such a loser, he can lose to JOE BIDEN! And the Jerry Wirth and Victory for Russia types? They love a loser!!!

    • One has to wonder why Jack hates the Jewish doctor from Jasper so vehemently. In his attack on Dr. Moss on 12/26/23, he noted rather oddly that that doctor was a Jew in a heavily Catholic community, as if his religion should be considered in his stance on…anything, really. A pattern seems to be present in his attacks.

      • This POST is 100% incorrect. It is lie in fact.
I never, ever, mentioned that Moss is Jewish.
ONLY Victory for Russia has been repeatedly mentioning that Moss is Jewish, which does not matter ONE IOTA from my perspective. Your faith background has ZERO substance on your qualifications for office.
Moss is a failed poiitician, and pretends he is a white, nationalist Christian all the time. That’s a character-flaw, but not a disqualification for office.

        • “pretends he is a white, nationalist Christian”. And you use religion again to attack him.

          • Trump is losing, getting older, losing his capablitiies, losing his court cases, losing public suport, and in a no-return decline. You realize more, every day, he’s going down. It makes you pissed, so you post lies about what I said. I am ok with it. You are clearly wrong, and have crap all over your face Victory for Russia. And? You may not like it. But it’s accurate.
