The University of Southern Indiana College of Liberal Arts Art and Design Department will kick off the 2023-24 Southern Indiana Reading Series at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 20 in the Performance Center. The College will host Adrian Matejka, award-winning author, who will read from his historical graphic novel, Last On His Feet: Jack Johnson and the Battle of the Century, illustrated by artist Youssef Daoudi and published in February 2023 by Liveright. The event is open to the public at no charge.
Matejka was born in Germany as part of a military family. He grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington and the MFA program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
After the reading, there will be a Q&A session, a book signing and a reception in the Performance Center Lobby with light refreshments.
