The House voted Friday to delay the individual mandate to buy health insurance under ObamaCare for five years, an idea that found support from 12 Democrats after frantic leadership efforts to keep its members in the “no” column.
Members approved the bill in a 238-181 vote. The initial vote total was different and said one Republican voted against the bill, but that vote was corrected minutes later — all Republicans ended up voting for the bill.
Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) was initially recorded as a “no,” but that was changed. Democrats voting for the bill were Reps. Ron Barber (Ariz.), John Barrow (Ga.), Ami Bera (Calif.), Joe Garcia (Fla.), Jim Matheson (Utah), Mike McIntyre (N.C.), Patrick Murphy (Fla.), Scott Peters (Calif.), Collin Peterson (Minn.), Nick Rahall (W.Va.), Bradley Schneider (Ill.), and Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.).
Democrats were under pressure to fall in line against the bill after a stinging loss in a Florida special election this week, which heightened fears that the healthcare law will sink the party in the midterm elections.
Party leaders pushed back on the idea that ObamaCare was a factor in the Florida defeat, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) insisted Thursday that the law will not hurt Democratic candidates this fall.
How many has Obama now exempted from this law? I have lost count. At this rate I have to conclude it was never the intention of Democrats to fully implement this law and was designed for another another purpose.

This law if you want to call it that was and is an intentional monkey wrench thrown into our area of health care system to set the stage for what the Democrats are truly after; single payer system.
They are intentionally causing hardship upon those they govern. If our Senators had only told Pelosi to shove it and demanded a public debate about the ACA contents and had Obama not lied about its real costs and the damage it would do I seriously doubt it would have ever passed.
The ACA is nothing but a stepping stone to nirvana and the stone is us.

David Jolly, a republican wins a representative seat that was vacated by the death of 21 consecutive term, long time representative Bill Young. He was unopposed in seven of them, won by 60-75% of the votes on all but the last one which was by a 56%. And he was a “REPUBLICAN” which made that area a “heavy” republican district. A democrat loses in this situation and it is a “sting”?

Not a bad showing for someone who wasn’t a particularly strong, well known candidate and was out-spent 3-1. Young was popular but remember that Obama carried the district in both presidential elections. Sink ran on “fixing” Obamacare. I just hope more Democrats follow her lead.
A little research will show that only presidential elections in that area leaned Democrat, all others races were republicans. This was not a presidential election!
Does the amount of money spent determine the winner of a election?
If accounts I have read are accurate, Jolly still won even when there were those in the GOP trying hard to sabotage his (Jolly) campaign (http://www.politico.com/story/2014/03/why-republicans-turn-on-their-own-104639.html).
That tells me a lot about Boehner and his crew not that I needed any more evidence; they are not worth a plug nickel and may as well shirk their fake Republican clothing.
At one point Jolly declined when asked to support Boehner, an admiral thing in my eyes but he later accepted which I don’t think he should have but that’s nothing more than armchair analysis.
The actions by Boehner and crew reminds me of what Wayne said here in another thread about his support for someone others did not like. To which there was a reply by yet another to the effect of: “Welcome to the machine.”. I think the attempts in Jolly’s case exemplifies why we rarely get people in a office that *we* really want that has not been mauled by the machine and end up serving “the party” instead of us.

Well I don’t know about that, parts of it perhaps. But there are some like Paine that should just fess up to their shenanigans.
Wayne is free to support whoever he likes, though of the reasons he gave that stand out most in to me was her support of “the party” and party fund raising efforts. Apparently the Constitution and oath of office are just fiddly bits setting on the edge of a desk. I think machine fits very well. Don’t anyone take that as Republican bashing, I don’t think it is, just keep in mind Democrats do the same.
I think the election is a fore shadowing of what could await democrats, but I never underestimate the republicans’ ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Of course, some Democrats voted “yes” because of their upcoming elections. Some think it will play well in their districts. Afterall, they know it isn’t going anyplace in the Senate.
You can sense the weakness when they try to find solace in a fairly meaningless special election in Florida. Barrel of laughs Jolly barely won in spite of the millions of outside money spent on his behalf. He’ll find his fickle supporters will turn on him and soon be calling him names. He gets to run again in November.
The usual electoral specialists weighing in, trying to find hope. Hoping they don’t have to buy health insurance, preferring the rest of us continue to pay the freight for them and their emergency room dwelling families. Really sort of sad for a bunch of purported bootstrappers.
