The United Auto Workers union suffered a crushing defeat Friday, falling short in an election in which it seemed to have a clear path to organizing workers at Volkswagen’s plant in Chattanooga, Tenn. Volkswagen workers rejected the union by a vote of 712 to 626.
The setback is a bitter defeat because the union had the cooperation of Volkswagen management and the aid of Germany’s powerful IG Metall union, yet it failed to win a majority among the plants 1,550 hourly workers.
Amen. Hope local hourly workers in this area catch on. Top Union management look out for themselves and not the hard working union workers.
Could it be true that company management look out for themselves, and those stock holders that are in reality act only as “hands off” bankers , and not the workers that toil to achieve the goal that the companies want?
Is it true that VW needs them to accept the union to legally implement the management model that has made them so successful in Germany?
Liberals backed by unions make such a management model illegal in this country. The Germans should be glad the unions failed in this instance. If the unions had of won a few things would have been quickly noted. The loss of teamwork, quality, and the inability to get rid of misbehaving and marginal employees. They would have also noticed backstabbing of supervisors and a union management team that acts as an obstacle to creativity and innovation. I can’t understand why a conservative would ever buy a poor quality union assembled car. It’s just like making a donation to the democrat party.
Intimidation from the right wing. Graph union membership and wages and the decline is almost identical. Hello dark ages! Better decide soon which lord or lady you’re going to swear to.
It appears it will be the Obama’s, the social experiment thrust on us by the liberal democrats. If you’ll notice the dark ages have already descended on places in this country dominated by unions and liberal.
Wonder why the UAW didn’t garner more support from republicans?
