STATEHOUSE (Sept. 12, 2022) — A pair of Vanderburgh County businesses recently received the Governor’s Half-Century and Century Business awards recognizing their longstanding service in the community, according to local legislators.
“Running a business isn’t easy, and operating one for so many years is impressive and deserves recognition,” said State Rep. Matt Hostettler (R-Patoka). “Congratulations to these local businesses and their families.”
Anchor Industries, operating for 130 years, received the Governor’s Century Business Award. Lively Machine Co Inc., operating for 70 years, received the Governor’s Half-Century Business Award.
State Rep. Tim O’Brien (R-Evansville) said the two Vanderburgh County businesses were among 47 companies and organizations recognized during a ceremony in Indianapolis for remaining in continuous operation in Indiana for at least 50 to 100 years and demonstrating a commitment to serving the community.
“Strong businesses not only contribute to our local and state economy, but they also provide jobs and add to ,” O’Brien said. “These institutions are invested in Vanderburgh County and I wish them continued success.”
“It takes hard work and perseverance to run a successful business,” said State Rep. Wendy McNamara (R-Evansville). “Whether it’s keeping customers happy or dealing with supply chain issues, every day can present a new challenge. To keep your doors open for decades, including the recent pandemic, is a great accomplishment and I’m excited these local businesses were recognized.”
These local employers now join the more than 1,200 Hoosier businesses that received this recognition throughout the award’s 31-year history.
