The donation will help fund the classroom enrichment activities at Lodge and provide hygiene products for students visiting Hangers.

EVANSVILLE, IN – Anthem is partnering with the EVSC Foundation to donate $3,000 to support classroom enrichment activities at Lodge Elementary School this coming school year. It also donated hygiene kits for in-need students who visit Hangers, the EVSC clothing resource.

“We are excited to support the students and educators at Lodge, knowing that they work hard to serve their students. We want to come alongside educators as they design and implement enriching activities, and help students with basic needs so they can focus on learning”, says Anthem’s Liz Stauth. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield serves students on Medicaid and experiencing homelessness across the Evansville-Vanderburgh county, making them a great partner to families and educators.

Hangers serves over 2,500 students each year, providing clothing, shoes, and other basic necessities to our students. “We are grateful to Anthem for their contribution this fall. We serve a large group of students at the beginning of each school year and their donation will help us ensure they can start the school focused on learning and not have to worry about having the clothes and shoes they need”, says Dave Schutte, Director of Hangers.

This collaboration between Anthem and the EVSC Foundation is part of a larger effort to sponsor schools serving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. “Educators in our Priority Schools often pay for project materials and learning resources from their own pockets. This is one way that we can channel community support in an equitable, focused way so that all our students enjoy enriching classroom activities”, commented Elisabet Sena-Martin, EVSC Foundation President. “We hope other community partners will partner with us to sponsor more schools!”
